I don’t care about plus sized models. I don’t even care about trans models. Big girls and boys who want to be girls buy lingerie too. It only seems smart to be more accommodating to those people as you open up a larger market.

But the America hating bitch is too much. Fuck her and any company that associates with her.

No matter. I am not now nor have I ever been a customer.

The question is, who are most of their customers? I suspect the vast majority don't look like Adriana Lima. They gotta sell to who's buying.

I question that putting the chubby and sexually confused on display actually helps the business?
Is that going to make those start or continuing to buy their goods?
Just keep the hotties on display for all to see, you can wish you looked like that and still buy the goods in your size.
It's a matter of marketing and I am not sure that exposing these does them justice.

Wow. This specific example all but confirms Daniel Greenfield’s analysis of this phenomenon. Coke goes woke and broke? Actually it’s the opposite

If you have not read that article I believe you will find it very thought provoking.

They are not getting woke and going broke, is possibly the opposite. They are going broke and embracing woke as a way to rebrand or reimagine their company to what they perceive as a new demographic of customers.

It’s a bold strategy.

Wouldn't half the trans/lesbian side want boxers, or tighty whitey briefs, being the masculine part of the partnership an all... Big Grin

Sort of what I mentioned in my last post is they aren’t selling to who is buying by using realistic models. We don’t buy shit for who we are. We buy shit for who we want to be. Advertising with fat girls isn’t gonna make fat girls want to buy their stuff.

These go to eleven.

Considering the facts that more than 1/3 of American adults are obese and nearly 1/3 are overweight, that comes as little surprise. (Ref: Obesity Facts)

You can call it the "new normal" if you like, but that won't change what it is, and what it is is unhealthy. Obesity is now outstripping smoking, drinking, or poverty as the nation's greatest health risk. (Ref: The Health Risks of Obesity)

"Plus size" doesn't necessarily mean "obese." Plus size does usually mean overweight.

Women wearing sizes in the range of 8-12 are hardly "waifs."

Here's an interesting comparison:
quote:

A new study from the Boston University School of Medicine has found that models for the lingerie company have gotten ever skinnier over the past 20 years, even as the average size of women in the U.S. has gone up. While Victoria’s Secret models have shrunk to a mere size 4, American women have grown to an average dress size of 16-18, researchers found. The models have become “more svelte, with a decrease in bust, waist, hips, and dress size,” The Boston Globe reported. At the same time, the Centers for Disease Control found that 40 percent of American adults were obese as of 2016.

Ref: Victoria’s Secret models are skinnier than ever—as average U.S. dress size has gone up

Unsurprisingly, the increases in obesity and overweightness (not a word--yet) has contributed to a decline in life expectancy in the U.S.: US life expectancy is falling – here’s why

Have you talked to women?

Those ads are more likely to make bigger women think they will never look that good. It makes them feel bad and inadequate. Fat girls see those ads and think, "I can't wear that."

Anecdotally, I know this to be true. My wife was a fat girl. (She has lost 65 pounds over the past 9 months.) She wouldn't wear those kinds of clothes and lingerie because she didn't think she would look good in them. It is still a mental block for her, because 30 years of being a fat chick is stuck in her head. That advertising was a turn off for her and most like her.

And you can be damn sure that a big retailer has tested this with all kinds of market research, focus groups, etc. They wouldn't air these ads if they didn't have a pretty good reason to believe they would and are working.

Maybe men prefer thin women in general. Men don't buy women's soap, do they? Dove needs to convince women to buy the soap, not men.

Nope. Too subtle. It is just that they are America-hating super commies bent on destroying truth, justice, and the American way.

Very interesting.
I think Daniel Greenfield is on to something.
But... I think it's also an act of desperation.

Coke Goes Woke and Broke

“Get woke, go broke”, is a conservative meme about the cost of political correctness that has it the wrong way around. Brands don’t go broke because they get woke, they go woke because they’re going broke, and don’t know how to stop the slow but steady collapse of their business.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

My Ex GF was size O. I gave her a VS gift card for her birthday. She gave it to her daughter. I learned she used a specialty skivvies maker that made high $$$ stuff in her size. The cost of the stuff was amazing. And worth every dime! Wink

Same for men, we all realize having a 6 pack and no love handles isn't normal and that putting on some French Cologne isn't going to transform our bodies..

Although by what we see here in CFL, there is no shortage of plus size gals willing to push it all in your face with super tight clothing, tighter than most women would be willing to wear in public and it isn't just Yoga pants.

Can't we just keep certain things the way they are and demand excellence from guys and gals?
VS making clothes for unhealthy/unfit women is just another participation trophy.
I don't demand they put XXL MAGNUM logos on my size of condoms so let the fat chicks accept that we don't want to see them in lingerie.

JHE888, it could be a little bit of both scenarios playing out. They selected to partner with someone who hates America no doubt. Someone who singlehandedly turned a lot of people away from women’s USA team and harbors no love for this country.

It’s truly a shame corporations and leftists cannot see that politicizing everything is a bad thing. For all the faux calls of equality and unity they fail to see the exact opposite is happening.

I long for a day when corporations and “entertainers” just shut the fuck up about their politics.

Mrs. Flash was size 1 for many years. I used to joke that she had Donald Duck on her underwear. She's a little larger now, but not a lot larger.

So what have you guys got against Plus Sized Women? They're shade in the summer and heat in the winter.

I agree.

I was poking a little fun at people who will claim Coca Cola or Victoria Secret is America-hating. They are just trying to sell soda and underwear.
