My wife has a Pilot I’m pretty sure it’s CVT.

I have 210,000 on my ‘15 Crosstrek CVT. I’m not defending CVTs, I’d prefer a standard tranny but they seem to be getting better.

Sure it's not a CRV? I'm not seeing the pilot listed anywhere with a CVT.

They list older models with a 5 speed auto, and newer models(2015 to present) with a 6 speed or optional 9 speed automatic. A 9 speed auto could "seem" like a CVT, but it's not. At least not what Honda officially calls a CVT.

Regardless, Boss1 ain't spillin the beans. Wink

I quite like the features and technologies that come with new cars nowadays. Especially things like Bluetooth, backup cameras, and entertainment/interface that links to your smart phone, not to mention the safety related stuff.

Yes they don't come with CD changers anymore, because people just sync their music off their phones directly nowadays! How is fumbling around with CDs better in anyway??? I don't even own a CD player in the house anymore!

Oh and for you people that like power and performance? Yeah newer cars are better at that too. People drop a new modern engine into muscle car resto-mods all the time.

The only valid complaint I can really see is for people that like to work on their own cars, newer cars tend to be less friendly to the DIY'ers.

For the record my daily driver is a 2013 Accord Sedan with manual transmission, and my "fun" car is a 1973 Lincoln Continetal.

^^My 2010 does have Bluetooth, which is handy as I often have to field calls when driving. It can probably get music off my phone, but with the CD player, I haven't taken the time to try to figure it out.

And its a 6 CD changer...loaded up with some favorites, so not too much fumbling around...and sometimes after some multi-minute commercial string...and then changing to another station just to get into another multi-minute commercial string to be followed by some song I don't like...I just get fed up and hit the CD button.

The 2010 did have the optional console/nav screen, but mine (thankfully) does not have it. A back up camera would be OK, but if I really wanted it...those are a simple retro-fit. And I'd probably want one of those mounted in the rear view mirror, out of the way.

As to modern engines in retro cars...true enough...but that's WAY beyond the daily commuters we're talking here.

I was driving the loaner over the weekend...and at the wrong angles...the sun reflection of the center nav. console was not friendly. Also, probably more to be a bit out in the sticks, but the Sat radio cuts out a lot.

Millenial

Bottom line is for some of us pre-Millennials, simpler is more better and we still want a bit of zip under the hood.

In any event...waiting to hear back from the shop to see when I can pick up mine...hopefully any minute.

Got my 2010 back.

Took it for a bit of a test drive/spin...

Soooo nice to have it back...just get in and drive...feeling it shift through the gears with a bit of pep...

Get ahead of the dump truck before the closure ahead? No problem. Pass on a decent grade? Push down on the throttle a bit more. No problem.

Ahh...yep, I'll take my 2010 over the 2020.

And FWIW, the aftermarket warranty picked up the vast majority of the tab.

My guess is Accord.
Which if you have a V6 Touring & your loaner was a CVT Touring, they're not really directly comparable, as the CVT Touring is the 1.5T engine, where the 2.0T Touring get s the 10 speed auto.

The NAV comment was the hint for me, the new Accord has it at an odd angle, to me.

You are a rare bird indeed! Whenever my brother jokes about rare cars, almost so rare nobody has ever seen or heard of it, this is the car he references. Amazing when grocery getter SUVs today have 577 HP (MB G63) that a performance model had a 845CC inline four of 37HP.

I don't think the Crosstrek makes enough power to really stress a CVT.
