I agree with you. And not only is it offensive for all the reasons you state, it is also disingenuous.

The Left has already gerrymandered the heck out of many of their states to the point that places like Massachusetts have zero Republican members of Congress even though the state is at least 35-40% Republican. That state has 9 reps in Congress, how can it not have at least 2-3 Republicans?

California only has 8 Republican congressmen, out of 52. They should have at least 15-20.

So maybe Texas and Florida, etc, are wrong in what they are doing, but they are fighting back against the fascism of the Left.

The only booger of the event being really expensive is that in the end, the ones bearing the cost burden are the taxpayers. Big Gov screws around, We The People pay the bill.

Trump should annex all the NOVA cities into DC under the guise of national security, those cities all contain Federal Employees, companies that serve the Federal Government including defense contractors.

Remove it from the State of VA and it becomes a part of the DC Democrat hold and eliminates it from controlling the state.

Boom problem solved and the left's heads would explode.

Interestingly enough, I saw a blurb recently that indicated that the cities of Arlington and Alexandria were never legally separated from Washington DC. Imagine some greedy DC pols taking it to court to try and obtain the vast tax revenues it could acquire, not to mention taking hundreds of thousands of votes with them Big Grin

It would take hundreds of thousands of "D" votes away from Virginia and potentially House seats, too. Virginia politicians won't let that happen.

The system is designed by the Constitution to balance state's interests against each other with equal Senate seats and proportional House seats.

Redistricting to offset other states' seat counts is subversion of the Constitution.

Same with the “Popular Vote Inter-State Compact” nonsense where states (blue states) are pledging to give all their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote. They are so intent on turning the country to a strict democracy and mob rule.

Man if they could stop counting non-citizens in the census as well, greatly reducing House seats from Dem sanctuary states, can you imagine the shift in politics and possibly even the chance of making meaningful change in this country regarding secure elections, border enforcement, fraud/waste reductions?

Might even improve state situations for those of us in states like WA where there is a large minority of conservatives, but we still suffer from super-majority dems in state house/senate and governor completely shutting down any hope of bipartisan progress.

It's official, FL has redistricted, the Senate just approved it, off to DeSantis desk for signature.

Virginia: "How come can't we redistrict like Florida just did?"

Florida: "We followed our state laws and Constitution."

It pains me to see my former home state do such a 180. I was in the first batch of the shall-issue CCWs around 1995, back when it was all on paper, after Oliver North's CCW renewal was denied and the movement got going. When the shall-issue law took effect, Alexandria and Arlington tried so hard to break the will of all applicants. They'd not mail permits, not call when approved. You had to constantly call, go in person pick up. It was printed on flimsy paper, not laminated. They interepreted the $50 fee allowed by law to mean $50 for the state, $50 for the locals, $50 for the feds, etc. Eventually, they relaxed everything and things were great for a while. I lived walking distance from the NRA HQ range and had an annual membership. I still have some friends there and I really feel sorry for what they're going through or are about to with regard to the gun laws. Never going back.

I hope this holds. It would be a very welcome relief. Since a racist judge ruled that my state has to have at least 2 districts created based on race, I no longer have any representation in Congress. Instead, I have a semi-literate, nose-picking, second generation son of fascist political grifters taking up space in Congress and collecting a paycheck from the country he hates.
