We are being conditioned to accept that there is no longer any absolute truth. Gender is fluid, race is a perception, evil is good.

What cracks me up is that the same people who accept this headline are the same people who vilified Rachel Dolezal for identifying as black.

If it's all as fluid as they say, then Rachel Dolezal should be completely accepted.

"Identify" seems like the hot woke word right now with pronouns as a close 2nd.
It'll just keep getting whackier as time goes on.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. 2023 will be the year of "identify". Our society seems to run on platitudes these days, and these lockstep leftists love trite, meaningless words and phrases.

Ever notice how, last year, the word "curate" seemed to be discovered by all these idiots? They hear words and phrases being thrown around and, lacking originality, they go squawking out this stuff like parrots.

Really? Once 85+ years ago some chick didn't tell people she was Asian/part Asian to get ahead. So, now we have to create racial fluidity to make up for someone winning an award in the past without explicitly stating her genealogy prior to her nomination? WTF kind of logic is that?

You know that their excuse/explanation is bullshit and nothing but. They simply do not care if they insult the intelligence of those who don't go along with their childish fantasies.

Michelle Yeoh seems like a nice person with her head on straight.

It's the reporting of the fact that she won an nomination for best actress that's awkward.

Her Golden Globes acceptance speech was great.

Understatement of the day Smile

My word would be retarded.

And I agree, nothing indicates that she came up with the stupid "identify as an Asian" bullshit. Just some woke moron at the Hollywood Reporter.

I've mentioned this before- with regard to their craft, I do not look upon actors in terms of their race. That is to say- as far as I'm concerned, Michelle Yeoh is not an Asian actress; she's simply an actress.

It's all about the "first black" (man/woman) to do or be something or other. The racists- the true racists- are really hung up on this kind of shit.

Remember when Halle Berry won an Oscar as Best Actress for her performance in 2001's Monster's Ball? The next day, the black gals I worked with were walking on clouds. I said I didn't quite understand, and they said "She's the first African-American woman to win that award!!" I'll tell you now the very same thing I told them then- I didn't see a black actress up there accepting the award; I saw an actress.

If I had gone further and said "What you're doing might be considered racism," the heavens would have fallen. One might as well shout into the wind.

I'd expand that African American or any other xxx-American. People need to get over this shit ASAP. Don't tell me that your skin color disadvantages you then use you ethnicity to define yourself.

We are all just Americans no need for any prefixes or hyphens.

It's 2023, not 1936.

OK not 1936...but in 1939 a little movie came out called Gone With the Wind. Hattie McDaniel won an academy award for her performance in February 1940. All that kerfuffle about Hallie Berry was cooked up by her publicist.

I like one commentator's suggestion: she should say, "As an Irish American, I am honored to accept this nomination for an Asian actress.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
