thanks for posting the ballot.

It really isn't that big a deal where the Senate names are

If they kept it all in English, without including Spanish and Haitian-Creole, the ballot would be more clear.

The net in Broward would have been Republican Rick Scott's statewide margin increasing by 779 votes. In the Senate race, Ron DeSantis's margin would have increase by 755 votes.

an obvious typo here. DeSantis is the Governor race

Republicans Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott would have seen their margins in the Governor and U.S. Senate races increase had county officials in two Democratic officials met the recount deadline Thursday. In Hillsborough County, the officials were perfectly clear: They flatly refused to submit the recounted numbers even though they had them on time.

Hillsborough: "[W]e are not willing to accept that votes go unreported," said Democratic Elections Supervisor Craig Latimer. The recount would have shrunk Democrat Nelson's countywide lead by 146 votes according to the Tampa Bay Times, thus increasing Rick Scott's statewide lead.

can you smell the foul odor ?
Wow, just wow! This crew in Broward is so obvious with their partisanship its just sickening.

'That' comes with the hand recounts. Give it time for these people to fully game the system.

Nice to see Alcee Hastings on that ballot running unopposed. What a world when that POS can elected to any office. I hold the same level of disdain for that POS that JALLEN did.

And if the legislature actually did its damn job, we wouldn't have had 13 amendments cluttering up the ballot either.

good news

Broward completed their manual count in 3 hours this morning.

Initial report is Nelson didn't get much help.

https://www.redstate.com/strei...ook-grim-bill-nelson

Florida Senator Bill Nelson has said that he was confident that once “all the votes were counted” in Broward and Palm Beach counties that enough mystery votes would be found to overcome his vote deficit and win re-election. After missing the state deadline for machine recount results yesterday, Broward began their hand recount this morning at 7 a.m.

They were planning to be done by midnight but they finished in under three hours.

The hand recount in Broward is over for the Senate race. It was a blur it went so fast. Looks like Nelson didn't come close to making up the ground he needs

Here at table 79, they blew through a packet of ballots in about a minute. All “no vote” in the Senate race. If it happens like this all day, it’s bad news for Nelson. His team is betting that the undervote in Broward was a machine issue, not that ppl skipped the Senate race

Same thing happening at table 99. A lot of no votes in Senate race

Folks on the floor here in Broward seem to agree that the vast majority of ballots here are “no votes” in the Senate race . Bad news for Nelson, who needs to pick up thousands here. Not on track to do that.

If Broward is off the table as a vote sump for Nelson, then this race is basically settled and Rick Scott is the new senator from Florida.

That is really good news. The fact that they finished so quickly is very telling in that almost all the ballots simply showed that there was no indication of voting for any senate candidate - no circling, no check mark, no spec of dirt, no nothing. The one picture of a vote crossed out for Nelson but not Rick Scott made me laugh.

Palm Beach only has 5950 ballots to count. No way in hell Nelson is going to become winner.

The ballot posted on this thread by grumpy1 (thanks) is not "the ballot in question": the ballot for the part of the 24th congressional district in Broward County did not contain Hasting's race, so the senatorial race was the only one on the left-most column. I agree that these ballots were easy to understand FOR AN INFORMED, EXPERIENCED VOTER. But we are talking about democrats here. "It is the most heavily Democratic district in Florida.".

The 1st phase of the hand recount (the tables) divides the (under/over) ballots into bins: Republican, Democrat, No vote, and (when the 6 don't agree), Pass the Ballot On to the Canvassing Board. The "No Vote" should be overwhelming, and Scott should win, but I don't know the criteria or the instructions given. I really hope the outcome of this election is without fraud.

The bad part of this is that they would have filled in the undervotes if they could have. That’s what scares me in these counties. They are the worst of the worse. There needs to be an impartial or team of partial officials at any time these ballots are handled.

There were some good people starting to get angry in a way I haven’t seen since the 2000 fiasco of democratic operatives nullifying absentee ballots from the military around the world. Back then there was a huge angry mob at the courthouse in Pensacola that pretty much ran Gores Legal team out of town.

If they were able to steal this election, I’m afraid that something bad (or good depending on the way you look at it) may have happened statewide.

If ole Nikki has any hope whatsoever of being anything more than a one term wonder, she'll walk very, very, carefully around CCL's.

Some updates from CNN

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/16...a-recount/index.html

In Broward County, the number of over and undervotes was over 30,000 ballots

In Palm Beach County, that number was around 6,000

This morning Judge Mark Walker ruled that the guidelines Florida law provides to election canvassing boards as to how to determine voter intent in a manual recount are constitutional.

Broward County elections officials announced on Friday morning that they had completed sorting their over and under votes, and the county's canvassing board was now reviewing the ballots and would announce the decision of those in dispute, meaning the intent of the voter was clearly in question.

Nelson's lawyers did score a narrow win on Thursday when Walker ruled voters whose mismatched signatures disqualified their provisional and mail-in ballots and who were "belatedly notified" of the problem have until Saturday at 5 p.m. to correct those signature problems.

Lawyers for Nelson and other Democrats had asked for the ballots in question to be counted with no review of the signatures at all.

Walker also denied a request on Thursday that would have made it easier for Nelson's campaign to reach out to voters who had mismatched signatures on their ballots. The lawyers had asked for the judge to require the Florida Secretary of State to release the names of people whose ballots had not been counted because their signatures did not match ones on file. Walker, quite directly, took a dim view of that argument and rejected it from the bench.

"I am not going to be used by either party," Walker told the lawyers. "That's the kind of gamesmanship that would undermine our democracy further."

Walker denied a motion from lawyers for VoteVets Action Fund and a series of Democratic organizations who were seeking to stop the state of Florida from enforcing the vote-by-mail deadline.

Walker did not agree, meaning Florida's vote-by-mail deadlines will stand and domestic vote by mail ballots received after Election Day will not be counted.

adding:

this is repetitious because cne32507 already posted it, but I thought it was confusing enough that another statement might help.

What happened in Broward this morning in the hand recount ?

The 30,000 over / under votes were reviewed and sorted into 4 boxes:

Each ballot was declared to be clearly a DEM vote, or a REP vote, a disputed vote, or a "No vote"

Example of a "no vote" would be where none of the boxes for a senate candidate were marked.

For a ballot where it was not clear how to call the voter intent, that ballot went into the Canvassing Board pile for the Board to review and make a decision.

However many of the over/unders got put into the Canvassing Board bins are being reviewed this weekend by the Board.

Yep, but they really were trying to get it done. Just like Broward filing their electronic recount results finished with time to spare two minutes late because it would have given Scott more votes. Roll Eyes Mad

This isn't just an attempt to keep the legal challenges going it is intentionally meant to try and further obscure the actual total count of ballots cast vs. people that actually voted vs. what these two counties were actaully claiming were cast. This is no longer just a violation of election law and missed deadlines, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi continue a criminal investigation into all of these matters.

In case anyone wasn't paying attention or for those that liked saying there was no evidence of fraud at the time early on, they sure as hell have some now and I'm certain the investigation will uncover more as time goes on.

Proud to have been one of the votes to help Scott and DeSantis here in Broward. To all that worked tirelessly to disrupt and overturn the will of the people of Florida and especially those dirtbag cheaters and criminals in Broward and Palm Beach counties...SCREW YOU! YOU FAILED!

I will continue to demand from the powers that be here in the State that the investigation be invasive, far reaching, and extremely uncomfortable for those that did wrong!
