I sat Indian Style once, ok, a lot of times.

Para, thanks for this good bit of Satire. You raise a good point in a fun and civil way.

We have ways of making you recall!!

Victor Mature under the light, Laird Cregar as the cop grilling him. I Wake Up Screaming, a 1941 proto-noir from Fox Studios.

And I didn't have to look up any of that, thank you.

And he didn't do it

The cop should have used a heat lamp instead

Can I just admit to being a scumbag and skip the yearbooks? It’d be far less embarrassing than letting anyone see some scrawny idiot with a bitchin mullet. Eek

Oh, dear. When I was in grade school our teacher made us make Indian headbands and feathers out of construction paper and wear them. This was in Ladera, California. If I get in trouble can I sue the State of California under Title XIII? I'd want additional damages for the intentional infliction of emotional distress for myself and exemplary damages for any Native American that ever lived.

Ah, Jefe... no tengo un anuario de mi escuela secundaria.

I recall my picture though. I was at the wheel of a school bus (yes, I drove a school bus while attending high school). I looked particularly unhappy, and instead of a smile the photographer got a snarl.

Good enough?

My yearbooks have all been deleted and run through Bleach bit.

I had to burn all of mine to keep warm during "snowmaggidon"in '93...I will admit to once thinking about puppies while looking at the "cat thread" (just that once).

Not in high school, but I am ashamed to admit that in college I did once use a self-tanning lotion that left my face very much darkened. In contrast to my Navy Dress Whites, it was quite offensive, most notably to my date that eveining to the ball.

I looked like Sundown in Top Gun!

My photo from my high school yearbook. Not sure if the waiver prohibits this, but if so, then this is really a pic of Michael Jackson masquerading as me. I reserve the right to change my story tomorrow, you know... in order to protect anyone in the community who has been deeply hurt.

My card is in the mail. I do need to confess some things from my past though.

I grew up in a suburban middle-class home that made Ward & June Cleaver look inclusive. I didn't have any minority friends as a child because there were none around. But it's oh so obvious now that I must have hated minorities since I didn't play with any. I am the product of a biased and privileged white upbringing. My God, my parents used to even take us to dine on occasion at a "Sambos" restaurant. Eek

I see that full reparations are in order. Please let me know the amount due and who to make payment to.

Confession: I can remember watching Uncle Reemus as a child and laughing. So I guess my hatred started long before highschool. I'm probably a lost cause.

A tad off topic but, when my daughter was in Pre-K 2 the teacher had the kids draw a "Family Picture". Well, that summer I had been out in the sun a lot, so the family picture had a white mom, white kid, and me colored with a very dark brown crayon and red lips. Her teacher went to the school administrator to ask, politely, about her family since she thought the people she had met first day of class were "white"?

Pretty funny I thought......BUT NOT ANY MORE, I many have been in black face by proxy!!
