Ballin Mundson (George Macready) in the deeply psychological film noir Gilda, 1946 Gilda: If you're worried about Johnny Farrell, don't be. I hate him! Ballin Mundson: And he hates you. That's very apparent. But hate can be a very exciting emotion. Very exciting. Haven't you noticed that? Gilda: You make it s... Ballin Mundson: There is a heat in it, that one can feel. Didn't you feel it tonight? Gilda: No. Ballin Mundson: I did. It warmed me. Hate is the only thing that has ever warmed me.

I wonder if the screen writers for Red Dawn (Kevin Reynolds/John Milius) knew of Gilda’s quote. Colonel Tanner: All that hate is gonna burn you up, kid. Bobby Morris: Keeps me warm.

I did There were two people that I hated very deeply One was a female and another was a shift SGT that derailed not only mine but several individuals careers. I hated that man with a passion for years. I loved working at the specific agency and it was one of the greatest times of my life. We did not get along, and I felt he was a crap bag. Then he was made my supervisor. I feel his crap at that agency made it hard for me to get another LE job and in fact I never got another one in VA. I also did not choose the 37F MOS (Psychological Operations) for the Army Reserve when I re-enlisted because of him. I heard he had joined the USAR for some reason and chose that MOS. He was attached to one of the units up near the MD/DC area. If we had cross paths during a training hop I am not sure what would have happened. For double digit years it ate me up, then one day I woke up and it was gone. I want to say it was when I got back from Afghanistan. I guess I validated myself to myself and proved to myself that I was once again good at what I didThis message has been edited. Last edited by: mrapteam666,

Some people deserve scorn and hatred. It's a normal human emotion and like any emotion too much of it or uncontrolled hate can be bad... But sometimes you have to embrace the hate. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

Yup- but I don’t lie awake at night plotting on my ex...but if a plane were to fall out of the sky and kill her and burn her remains to ashes, I’d probably kick a C note to the airline so they could put it toward a new plane. Yes. I try not to dwell on it or let it overrule logic, though. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

This is a very thought provoking thread. Have you ever met someone who seemed to absolutely need someone to hate? I have, at least one, maybe more. But I'm thinking of a specific woman I used to work with. She was the most hateful behaving human I've ever seen. She made it clear that she needed someone to hate, all the time. That was her life situation, needing someone to hate. The weird thing was, after doing this, should could turn on a dime in a second and smile sweetly at everyone and act nice for awhile. What kind of a psychological profile is such a person? .

Funny you should say this. I'm a bit different. The hate has never eaten me up, and none of them really have the ability to hurt me further, but I have a long memory and would cheerfully beat them half to death. Certain debts should be paid. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." Alfred Hornik, Sunday, December 2, 1945 to his family, on his continuing duty to others for surviving WW II.

This is one of the few threads I won't read before posting. There is no one I actually hate (even ex-wife). There are actions, beliefs, behaviors, and ethics I hate. No one deserves the energy it takes to hate them. I say I hate x,y, or z, bit in reality it's just the colloquial usage of the word. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

How noble. Don't let we apes contaminate you. I see you managed to open this thread, though. I couldn't disagree more. Some people damn well deserve to be hated, and fuck the battery drain of doing it.

I only hate one person. This person is a drug using, drunken, wife beating, piece of shit. He knows that if he gives me any guff I would quite happily do time for the chance to re-arrange his facial geometry with a coal shovel. Will I go looking for him? Does my hate for him consume my every waking moment or interfere with enjoying my life? No, he hardly registers as a blip on my radar, but I'll gladly piss on his grave when he croaks - hopefully not long from now.

Yes: Obama, his racist wife, Reid, Nadler, Comey, Kamala Harris, The Clintons... I despise their existence but they’re not worth a second of thought, like cheap novels.
