Hard to say, but now that I'm pretty much totally retired, I've got the time and certainly (IMHO) the balanced point of view I think good attorneys are hoping for.

This is exactly how I feel. I have testified before Grand Juries in the past, but didn’t really understand them until I served on one.

I will soon be testifying before two different Grand Juries on two different cases I worked recently and my experience serving on a Grand Jury is going to seriously help. I am grateful for the experience.

I have had local 3 or 4 times, and Fed once,

the fed case was for a youth that had a gun and committed a crime (project Exile) , but since I had a gun magazine (the paper type) a book by Tubb, and a newspaper with me, and being a white dude, after a few hrs I was cut loose,

the local county stuff, I had one time where I was the only one left , as in they selected all the jurors they needed, and alternatives, and I was the last man in the seats,

another I was selected, 2 old dudes, one supposedly broke into the others shed and stole something,

we heard opening arguments, and then got sequestered for a couple hrs,

seems one atty, not sure which, said something they were not supposed to say, and we were released,

otherwise, I had to go a few times and set around, then go home, as in not called

PITA, , absolutely, but part of my duty as a citizen

haven't been called in over 20 yrs,

Been summoned twice. Once ended up on a jury pool for a murder case that I was one of the original investigating officers (body dropped at hospital ER in my jurisdiction and we find out where the victim was shot at). The prosecutor didn't realize I was one of his subpoenaed witness until he looked at the original report during my sidebar with the Judge, Prosecutor and Defense Attorney.

Second time, I was summoned while as a Bailiff the same week we were having a shooting trial for a confined Black Sovereign Citizen with extensive prison history (including making/having/using improvised prison weapons) who was representing himself.....Needless to say my Judge and the Presiding Judge excused me. I’ve been summoned for jury duty a number of times but only made it into the selection process twice.

Both times, the defendant saw the jury candidates, watched part of the selection process, and realized what was about to happen (murder/rape case the first time, probable illegal alien accused of causing a bad traffic accident while driving without a license (or insurance, I think) the second time). Both defendants had a change of heart about the plea deal they’d initially turned down and the jury pool ended up being dismissed toward the end of the day in both cases.

I've been called a few times, selected for the jury once. It was a civil case, a batshit crazy woman suing a truck driver for allegedly damaging her car and causing unspecified injuries.

After hearing the arguments, the jury was escorted to the room where we were to deliberate. As soon as the door was closed, I asked "Do any of y'all think that anything that she (the plaintiff) said, was credible?"

It took us maybe three minutes to agree, unanimously, that she was a total whack job and had no claim. We returned to the courtroom with a finding in favor of the defendant (the truck driver).

Had jury duty summons once.

Kid was suspected of taking a fishing lure out of the pack and stuffing them down his pants and trying to walk out the door.

That is not where I would want to take my chances with six pointy hooks, but I was released before trial.
