Bush Took a Knee When Obama Fundamentally Transformed America

President Bush is facing fierce backlash from conservatives after he delivered a speech that has been interpreted as a direct attack on President Trump.

“Bigotry seems emboldened," Bush said. "Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication.”

The former Republican president never mentioned Trump's name, but journalists, political pundits and just about everyone with functioning eardrums understood the identity of the target.

Listeners to my national radio show called Bush's remarks disgraceful and appalling and extremely disappointing.

Personally, I'm puzzled -- because President Bush never publicly criticized President Obama -- ever.

"You won't see me out there opining or criticizing my successor," Bush said in 2010.

"I don't think it does any good. It's a hard job. He's got plenty on his agenda," he said in 2013, defending his decision to remain silent about the Obama administration. "A former president doesn't need to make it any harder."

And in 2014 Bush told Fox News Channel, "I don't think it's good for the country to have a former president undermine a current president; I think it's bad for the presidency for that matter."

So why did he decide to unleash on President Trump?

I would expect Obama to undermine Trump -- that's what he does -- he's a community organizer. It's in his nature - he's an agitator.

But George W. Bush -- yeah -- well, his blindside against the president was mighty disappointing. I respected that man -- I knew he was a fake conservative - but he took care of our military -- he looked after the troops. He defended religious liberty. That speech he gave on the pile of rubble after 9-11 - one of the best speeches in modern presidential history.

So now you understand the lay of the land - ladies and gentlemen.

Establishment Republicans and Democrats on one side, We the People on the other.

When Obama shoved Obamacare down our throats, Bush turned the other way.

When Obama apologized for America on foreign soil, Bush was silent.

When Obama declared a war on police officers - Bush offered nary a peep.

When Obama waged war on religious liberty - Bush was AWOL.

And when Barack Obama vowed to fundamentally transform America -- George W. Bush -- stood down. Mission Accomplished.

So - maybe his speech yesterday in New York City -- was just Bush showing his true colors -- coming out of the closet as an Establishment Republican Swamp Thing.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

I agree.

Bush's 'duck and run' wasn't helpful.

There are ways to keep advancing the agenda without becoming overly strident if that was his concern.

Perhaps he never really stood for anything.

And to think a LOT of people had anointed and pre-ordained a third round of the Bush mafioso with Jeb. Jimminy Crickets...that would've been just as bad as the Hag. As for Georgy boy...he's dead to me. I feel sorry for Laura...

The Bush clan is exactly the same as the Clinton crime family. Screw them all! All of them are enemies of this country.

Daddy Bush only got where he was because the establishment didn't like Reagan and a Reagan Bush ticket was the way to get the establishment's blessing. You'll note how the magic of the Reagan administrations faded when daddy Bush became president. Little George was the least of the worst choices to me so I voted for him twice. I didn't like it except to stop the Leftist candidates. I still shudder at my vote for McCain, but a vote for Obama was never going to happen.

I was never a big Bush fan, but the alternative was Al Gore. However I am quite disappointed in his latest blunder. As per the old adage, better to keep your mouth shut so people will only think you are a fool, rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Yes, better than Al Gore or John Kerry. Of course.

Twice I voted for George Bush and many members here can say the same.

I voted for Bush because the alternative was unthinkable. Now that he has shown his true colors any respect I had for him as a person, or even a past Pres., is gone. A total leftist. Another swamp dweller. An elitist enemy of the people. I am disappointed.

Pretty much this. And, it was Reagan's biggest failure. If only he'd have told the establishment to take a long walk on a short pier and chosen Jack Kemp instead.

With all due respect Darth, we shouldn't be so hard on Al Gore. After all, he is saving not only planet earth, but the entire universe, with his alarm of man-made global warming (which, coincidentally, is quite lucrative for him).

(Now where is my barf bucket. Wink )

I completely agree.
Think of the lasting change and improvement to our country if Reagan had chosen a true conservative to be his running mate and heir apparent. Instead, he tried to appease the establishment and chose Bush.

As a result, the Reagan Revolution was short lived. It died in 1988 when the torch was passed to George HW Bush. The Uniparty was born.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I voted for both of them. They were obviously a better choice than the knuckleheads they were running against - which isn't saying alot. In the end B1 gave us no new taxes and B2 gave us 9/11 and the recession. Just say no to B3.
