In '92 I was far less politically aware. I trusted people and institutions I should not have. As such I missed the above quote. It is a terrifying notion.

Their lips are moving. Politicians, particularly career/professional ones, *are* the (or a) *major* problem. |

I had thought that much had been painfully clear at least ever since Trump started leading in the polls in the last Presidential election.

| ^ Exactly. This last Presidential race (further) exposed the realities of modern politics and who actually supports whom, and how few real friends the people actually have in D.C. |

You hit a nerve here re the UN and its Charter. I have posted before, a constitutional scholar analyzed/summarized the UN Charter as compared to the US Constitution. In brief, he noted that the Constitution separates power, balances power, keeps power close to the people. The UN Charter concentrates power into the hands of a few and keeps that power away from the people. The UN is not a friend of liberty, just the opposite
"Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944 |

posted October 21, 2017 09:29 AM Hide Post The Bush clan is exactly the same as the Clinton crime family.
And no one knows that better than the families themselves, who are best of friends. It's good to trust your government-- until you realize you are being naive, Many of us trusted the Bushes for a long time. After all, why just assume they are all a bunch of corrupt, conniving phonies? But that is exactly what time has revealed them to be, the Bushes not a whit better than the Clinton Crime Family.

| ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Heheheh...good one Floyd. Yeah...what is it? Birds of a feather?? Or something like that... To justjoe's point, I lived a large majority of my life thinking our government was just and good and fair and "for the people" up until around the time the Clintons came into office. Afterall, Ronald Reagan's 1980 election was the first time I really paid attention to politics. I felt redeemed when Bush II was elected...not so much anymore. Now that I'm older and more in tune with politics and on the outside looking in and taken a close look at our history, I see just how corrupt our government has been loooooooooooong before I was ever born some 50+ years ago.

| I voted for him because, like the rest of you, the alternative was unacceptable. But I was quickly disillusioned. He was SIX years before he issued ONE veto, and during that whole period his "Compassionate Conservative" persona watched government grow and spending go way out of control, to the delight of the Dems. Yeah, he was a conservative. His invasion of Iraq gave rise to ISIS and destabilized the middle east. I see Andy Card often as he has a summer home near where I live here in Maine and I've always wanted a chance to sit down with him to get his thoughts.......... |

Photos are an instant of life and can catch expressions that don't reflect how a person really felt. I wouldn't make any conclusions on how she felt based on one photo. |
