i’d like to kill two birds with one trip.

check out potential retirement location. and go someplace that has largely maintained reason and common sense and away from the hell of crazy in which i currently reside.

I was down there two years ago. Fun little area. Hiked all over the Smokey's and had some good meals in downtown Gatlinburg.

Buxton is a wicked cool little hamlet, though I haven't been in awhile.

We tend to do Gatlinburg in late winter when it isn't so crowded. My first visit was in peak season and I swore I was in Hell, but off season it's OK

The Evil Empress and I are in the middle of an interminable wait to take possession of a new motorhome. We're just going to go wherever it points.

Going to Ft. Lauderdale in August before my daughter goes back to college. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be interested in hearing them (email is in profile)

My brother and I did a hiking trip in SD last month. Next month my wife, kids and I are headed to WY for 2 weeks of camping and hiking in the Bighorns. Getting away from people for a bit (not even cellphones will work) and enjoying the outdoors. I can't wait.

Well... Last Sunday we had a High School Graduation Celebration for a Grandson. Great kid.
We had 52 guest... friends and family, at our house and I cooked 18 lb of BBQ pulled pork, hamburgers, hotdogs, 60 wings and 4 lb of bacon.

Corn Hole, swimming, good fellowship... a great day all around.

I actually got approved for 20 straight days of leave which kind of surprised me with what all is going on.
Much of it will be at home but we’re going to head to Myrtle Beach for some of it.
The in-laws are taking the boys down 3 days before we leave so it will be just the wife and I for 3 whole days which has not happened in 7 years so looking forward to that.

Was planning on heading to The Ritz Carlton Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee in the fall but we’ll see how Atlanta is doing by then before finalizing.

Yup. Just got back from Cozumel. We had a great time. Maybe going out on the boat for a week, but that’s up in the air, still.

Did you stay at a resort? Details please

First 3 days stayed at a local villa, then switched to Presidenté Intercontinental for a week. Both were lovely. Staff was great at both as well, with the resort having 2 dining options on site made it easier. Everything that was open on the island was very COVID appropriate, but they didn’t let that slow down their operations. Temps taken, foot baths, face shields and masks. One place even sprayed us down with some chemical.
Very low rates of COVID there per the locals, partly because they shut down everything for 2 months - including ferry access and all the marinas. We were there to dive, so we weren’t out and about so much as underwater. Flights were uneventful and not even close to full to and from the states. Easiest customs I’ve done in a LONG time. A very nice trip and folks were glad to have us there. Then we came home..

My little girl turns 11 next month. The ONLY thing she's asked for is to go stay at a cabin in the woods.

Found one that is a tree house in the southern part of the State. It even has a hot tub.

Also plan to go to Maine this Fall.

We have been gone from Virginia for a month today and am in Alaska. We will be here for at least another month.

Everyone up here is glad to see us and with fuel prices low the drive up here was relatively cheap in our truck camper.

I had plans, but with finances all messed up, no. I instead have done some one day roadtrip, scenic drives and the like.

Visiting small towns, but that hasn't been that great because a lot of places have been closed or such.

So far the most exciting road trip has been to the Tail of the Dragon in Deals Gap, North Carolina.

Been doing back country roads and such. Hopefully fall break I will be able to do something for a few days.

We take day trips to see our kids & grandkids, who are scattered all over PA, DE, and OH; but our only big trip is in the Winter, when we spend a couple weeks in FL visiting with my wife's sister & my brother who are on opposite sides of the state.

My wife and I tend to not go to far in the summer months.

We live in one of the vacation capitals in the US. We also do not like to go to far during hurricane season. We like to be close to home in case we have to board up and get ready before a storm hits.

We will visit the parks for one or two days at a time. Kind of like a stay cation.

We like to go on cruises.
We tend to do our cruises outside hurricane season.
