I pray that the felony charges stick for these two douchebags.

I'm just so sick of the nonsense in this town.

Park City employee faces felony charges for allegedly stealing hunter’s equipment
POSTED 10:23 PM, SEPTEMBER 8, 2018, BY ELLE THOMAS, UPDATED AT 10:28PM, SEPTEMBER 8, 2018

PARK CITY, Utah -- A Park City, city employee faces felony charges after she and her husband were allegedly caught stealing a hunter’s equipment, posted in the Wasatch Mountains.

“There’s no excuse, that I can think of, for what they did,” said hunting enthusiast, Bronko Phillips. “That’s a big no-no and they knew better."

The investigation started with a Facebook group and some fed-up hunters.

“It was time that we did something,” said fellow hunter, Lance Palmer.

“A lot of people recently have been posting pictures (on Facebook) of their trucks being destroyed while their out scouting or hunting,” said Phillips.

“Trail cameras, every week we have one to six people saying my trail cameras were destroyed,” Phillips added. “We have gentlemen that let us know their stands were taken or they were tampered with.”

When the guys saw a post from a fellow hunter asking for help to find two people who were caught on camera stealing his equipment — it was the last straw:

“I think a lot of us just got tired of it and wanted to do something about it,” Palmer said.

“I think they feel that they’re in the right. I think they feel that hunters are bad and evil people and we’re out there just basically murdering animals and we’re not,” said Phillips.

The duo (a man and a woman seen in the pictures) nabbed two tree stands that were locked to a tree and a trail camera.

“People think these trail cams, these tree stands, these elevated hunting platforms are bad and they’re just for murderers to sit in the tree and wait for these poor animals to come by,” Phillips said.

The theft put the hunter out more than $1,500 in equipment and caused more than $500 in damages.

“It’s not like they just happen to walk up on it and have a pair of bolt cutters in their back pocket,” said Palmer.

The two suspects didn’t see the hunter’s other camera posted up down the trail – capturing two clear photos of the culprits:

“We’ve actually got proof of somebody that’s doing wrong, let’s get justice for it,” said Palmer.

Palmer runs a popular Facebook group with nearly 10,000 members, called “Utah hunters, fishers and campers.” Bronko Phillips is an admin on that page.

Phillips took it upon himself to spread the photo as far as he could until the two were identified.

“Once I posted it up, the community just exploded around it and it took off,” Phillips said.

The man was identified as a well-known skier named Andrew McLean.

As for the woman -- she’s the Park City assistant city attorney, Polly Samuels McLean.

“Being a pillar in the community they should be held to a higher standard,” said Phillips.

Both were arrested on Thursday and now face felony theft charges as well as misdemeanor charges for criminal mischief. Unified Police Department said a search warrant was also executed on the couple’s home Friday.

“I’m just glad that something was finally done,” said Palmer. “Maybe it will make other people, that are looking to do something similar, think about it.”

Fox 13 reached out to Park City Municipal Corporation, Polly’s employer, for comment. They sent the following statement:

“As required by the policies and procedures of Park City Municipal Corporation, on Friday September 7th, Polly Samuels McLean informed our Human Resources Manager of her felony arrest, which occurred the day before, Thursday, September 6th.

Park City Municipal Corporation will continue to follow its policies and procedures in this matter and has no further comment at this time.”

Not anymore I suspect, regardless of the outcome- which should be a felony conviction.

They won't. Unless these two assholes kept the stolen items at their home or admit to the vandalism these people won't be tried for anything except the theft of two tree stands and one trail camera. Odds are that will get pled down to something like "tampering" or Criminal Mischief, which are both probably misdemeanors.

I've stopped counting.

Looks like Andrew is some way sponsored by Black Diamond. Maybe just free gear. Maybe someone might want to send Black Dimond a note about this thief.

This is a great bust!! The amount of theft and vandalism going on in the outdoors has to be stopped!! These folks getting caught on camera should be published everywhere, maybe people will think "Am I on camera" before being destructive.

The guy that carved his initials in Corona Arch, Moab, UT, was busted, paid a fine, restitution and is banned from public lands for a couple of years. I'm sure his business took a hit, too.

Don’t be so sure. If you’re the DA, and a city attorney is busted with such clear evidence, it may be seen as favoritism to offer a plea. The DA might go full in just to provide his office some cover.

If they are guilty of that as well, hopefully the police find the evidence in their home.

The DA will be recused and another agency will prosecute, maybe state AG or similar, maybe with a change of venue if the local judges opt out.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I sure hope that's the case. Ideally, get this case out of Summit County.

Might be better keeping it up in Summit county. The SLC DA is an idiot who is politically motivated in his prosecutions. He will for sure plea this down to a anothing.

Andrew McLean...interesting. He's a known figure in the outdoor community, having been sponsored and featured in a variety of company's adverts and backcountry trips over the last 20-years. He's among a handful of pioneering ski-mountaineers having skied-off a variety of high-altitude peaks.

Unfortunately, it sound like he and his wife are apart of a growing group of self-actuated, self-righteous, we-know-better lefties that have taken-root in Park City and around Utah. It's the classic case of, let's move to this beautiful part of the country, meanwhile we're going to create the world we want for our children...even if that means pissing-off, and over-turning local-norms and culture.

Throw the book at him and his wife. Mischievous shit like this needs to be nipped-in-the-bud, it forces wedges into communities, and by further extension, mirrors the current political/social landscape. I can't just disagree with you, I need to eliminate your culture, your activities and your lifestyle.
