As a result of the “This Bud’s for who??” thread I bought some Pabst Blue Ribbon for the first time in decades. It’s quite decent beer. I think the new owners have improved it.

There was always a fridge full at one of my old Gun Clubs. It was a buck a bottle. It was actually a pretty smooth beer. The Club had game dinners, elk and such. I'd have a bottle for just a buck after a shooting session at night.

When I was young, it was called, “Cowboy Beer,” and I drank it pretty much exclusively. I don’t drink beer very often anymore, and I’m quite sure that the last time I had a PBR, the Pabst family still owned the brewery. I’m somewhat tempted, but I think I’ll leave a pleasant memory where it belongs.

Late one summer when I was young, a college-age neighbor hired me to help him with his tobacco harvest that he used to pay for his schooling. I'd carry and drop tobacco sticks for those cutting and spearing and drive the tractor and wagon.

It was a long, hot day so about midafternoon, our young boss said, "Time for a break." We piled in the back of his pickup truck and he drove to the nearest country store. I'm not sure if he was serious since the drinking age was then 18 and I was about 11, but he asked if I wanted a Pabst Blue Ribbon, which was what the older guys were drinking. I thanked him but asked for an RC Cola instead (no, no moon pie).

I rarely drink beer so, to the best of my knowledge, I've still never had a PBR.

I'm 7 yrs out of the grocery biz, however the last store I ran was at VCU, we sold 2 or 3 pallets every weekend when school was in session

I was in Boulder City, NV a couple of weeks ago, the restaurant we were at had a special - PBR $1.00 until 6 PM. Couldn't resist, it was in a chilled glass and was very good.

PBR is something I used to, and today will occasionally drink. Could never stand Budweiser. Another mainstream beer I like is Coors Banquet, I still drink it as well. For decades, I was a microbrew drinker, then in recent years, could not stomach any more IPAs and full bodied beers anymore, thus my return to American lagers. And then there is Shiner too...

I drank PBR for years. It makes a good red beer. Then the hippy dippy Birkenstock crowd started drinking it. Not wanting to be associated with that, I moved on.

I can't recall when was the last time I drank a PBR.

Hmmm. I've never been a heavy beer drinker, and when I do imbibe it's usually Henry Weinhard's PR. Based on these two threads though, I may have to give Pabst a try soon. Always like to support companies whose actions are on the right side, especially American ones.

I drank PBR and Schlitz in college. Thank goodness I can afford better beer now! IPA’s only. 2 a day. Every day.

I'm so confused. I started long ago, but back then I didn't have a preference. For most of the last 60 years its been Bud Lite, but that is now what we call queer Beer given their latest stunt. I'm not going to BPR because it tasted ban back in the 1960s.

Ah, Schlitz. When I was married and living in Florida, I would pick up a few quarts of Schlitz Beer to drink when my wife would drag me to see a Doris Day movie at local drive inn.

Bring smashed on beer was the ONLY way I could sit thru a Doris Day - Rock Hudson movie.

It's a very popular tap beer at a place I often go to.

In the mid '60's, Schlitz was good beer. Years later, they screwed it up.

As a wee one u liked the Hanns commercials almost as good as cartoons,.that whacky bear

Every now and again, on a hot day, I'll want an American lager, and Pabst is good for that. Coors, Bud (regular), and Rolling Rock are my other choices in watery American lager.
