Pretty much anything out of the ocean. I like freshwater fish, but the flavor of the saltwater species I've had is a bit too strong and "fishy" for my tastes. Not a chance on underwater bugs like crab, lobsters, shrimp, etc.

I've often wondered if there is an objectionable compound in seafood that some people perceive differently than others. Kind of like the PTH paper that the class tried in HS science class. Some tasted nothing and others tasted the bitterness.

Anytime we went out to eat with my wife’s family from a neighbor city and they would suggest a certain entree I never heard of and say ( It’s an acquired taste), no way.

Can't eat raw onions but I love them sauteed. Never a mushroom.

Learned early on in my travels that there is a big difference between local 'delicacies' and 'food.'

Sticking to 'food' has proven good policy over the years. Wink

Chicken.... nasty critters, most are pumped full of steroids and antibiotics and besides that the meat is cheap and that's what 'they' want to throw at you.

I'm not a picky eater, but I've got a few:

I could never bring myself to like yellow squash, due to the combination of the taste and the slimy texture.

I've also never had brussel sprouts that I've enjoyed. Even when people tell me that a certain restaurant has "the best brussel sprouts ever", I'll try them and usually agree that they're the best brussel sprouts I've ever had... but they still suck.

I also can't do canned peaches or canned pears. Fresh peaches/pears are awesome, but sticking them in a can of syrup to get all soggy and slimy totally ruins it.

I also refuse to eat traditional "fast food" (McDonalds/KFC/Taco Bell/etc.). There are always other options for cheaper and better quality food that's just as convenient. I make an exception for ChikFilA once or twice a year.

This!! I have to admit to trying it on a dare during a festive night in Olongapo. Never again.
