I'd like to hang a large decorative analog clock on a wall of my new home. But I'd like it to be atomic, so I don't have to worry about it getting out of time, having to take it down to readjust it for Daylight Savings, etc. I'm thinking something roughly 3 feet in diameter. In my interweb searching, I'm finding a bunch of large clocks, and a bunch of atomic clocks, but no real options for large, atomic clocks. Anyone have a source for large atomic analog wall clocks?

This one's a real bitch to adjust. It's got one Hell of an alarm function, though.

Damn. That is unusual. {Not criticizing though, each to his own}. THREE FEET across is train or bus station size. It would make me nervous.

I'm going for something similar to this... a plain white wall with a large decorative clock: ![]()

Oh now that is attractive. I was thinking of the type they have in classrooms just larger. Thanks

I found these: https://www.klockit.com/quarte...-clock-movement.html https://www.amazon.com/Movemen...id=1596155003&sr=8-2 https://products.bestreviews.c...tomic-clock-movement https://www.american-time.com/...-clock-movement-kits Maybe one of those would work. Interesting... Are you suggesting I buy a large clock, and buy an atomic movement, then cobble them together?

Yes of course. Then it will glow in the dark. .

That, or DIY the dial and assemble one. Considering you want something about 3' in diameter, I doubted that you'd find a commercial one that big. ETA: I just found this 20" one: https://www.wayfair.com/decor-...lock-w001263697.html flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

This is digital and not atomic but it plugs in and has battery backup that saves the time if there’s a power outage. It’s 3 feet wide, eight and three quarters tall and has a remote so you can adjust from a distance. Here’s a link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d...1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&th=1

Thanks, but I'm looking for analog not digital. (A round face with moving hands, like the photo above.)

I have this one by Howard Miller (stock photo) ![]() 32" diameter, it is not an atomic clock, it has a battery operated quartz movement. It is fairly accurate, I may readjust by a minute once a year. I have yet to replace the battery, and wouldn't be difficult since it is fairly light in weight, the placement height is easy enough to remove the clock standing on a chair, and is easy to readjust for daylight savings. I think I paid $250 a couple of years ago. Do I need a super-accurate large face decorative clock?. No, as long as it is close enough to the minute. Plus there are no minute markers anyways, it is just a cool thing to hang in the living room. Another option might be to purchase a quartz clock of the size you want and then replace the quartz movement with an atomic movement. I have done this in the past but never on the size of clock you desire. Here is an example of such a movement: atomic movement "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

Rogue, my one of my daughters bought me a clock similar to the one in your first pic here. With a lofted ceiling, it went really nice in the living room. Kept very accurate time on one AA battery although, changing its time twice a year did help. ![]() Downside, don't accidentally drop it, or allow anything else to drop on it, when its removed from the wall during a repaint effort. They are very light and the clock hands VERY thin. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. True. It doesn't need to be super accurate. I guess I've just had bad experiences with smaller wall clocks in the past that got off by several minutes per month, and constantly needed readjustment. Having to wrestle a 3+ foot clock off the wall every few weeks would get old fast. Hence my search for an atomic version. I may give a standard analog version a shot. This 40" one seems to be the style I'm after, and is reasonably priced at just over $100: ![]()
