Nice clock, the one you are looking at, unless it's made of old rail road iron, shouldn't be very heavy, we've got two of these up, and it is a piA to drag the ladder out for DLST or the battery, it's not that heavy.

I would like an atomic clock for the purpose of not having to correct the time for the one I've got above a set of doors on the outdoor patio, but in reality, it's not that big of an issue..

No. West Ark is chock full of consignment shops,

it might take you three or four week ends of shopping ,but If you are going to find one anywhere.

it might very well be in one of those places

Are you sure you’re after an atomic clock and not just one that is time synched to the broadcast time signal.

JPL had an atomic clock for $445,000 but it was digital

"Atomic clock" is what companies that produce such clocks describe them as:

(But I'm pretty sure you knew that I didn't want a half a million dollar supercooled electromagnetic atomic clock anyway, and are just being pedantic. Wink )

What I would try is find a large clock like you want that has one of these cheap chinese mechanisms in it and then just order an atomic clock from the same maker.... the one problem you might run into is the hands .....

Just got the La Crosse Technology WT-3143A-INT and put a AA in it (set to dst + pacific time) and in a few minutes of scrolling it automatically set the correct time.

I guess I've just had bad experiences with smaller wall clocks in the past that got off by several minutes per month, and constantly needed readjustment. Having to wrestle a 3+ foot clock off the wall every few weeks would get old fast. Hence my search for an atomic version.

I may give a standard analog version a shot. This 40" one seems to be the style I'm after, and is reasonably priced at just over $100:

Off by several minutes per month is bad.

The last time I adjusted my Howard Miller clock was for daylight savings, and it is pretty much spot on for the correct time right now.
