The pre-2002 Mars bar, when it the American version: nougat and almonds covered in chocolate. Big Grin

It was re-released as Snickers Almond and the current Mars bar is what's available worldwide, nougat, caramel covered in chocolate..which competes with Milky Way.

Snickers then, now, and always.

Speaking of favorite candy bars, this comedy set always tickled me.

Snickers Snickers Snickers!!

On one of my trips to S.Asia, I packed half of my suitcase with Snickers bars. (Yes, I realize I might have a problem. But in the 80s you could not buy Snickers in S.Asia, and I had yearned for them on my previous stay.)

When I landed in New Delhi, there was some sort of terrorist threat regarding the flight, so they unloaded all the suitcases onto the tarmac and passengers had to go one at a time to claim their suitcase. Therefore, my suitcase sat in the scalding sun-- temp. well over 100-- for about two hours. Half of my suitcase was a gooey blob of caramel, chocolate, and nuts.

I almost broke down in tears. Big Grin

If I had to choose a traditional "candy bar", it would probably be York Peppermint Patties.

But I've never been a big fan of candy bars or even chocolate in general. Even as a kid, I preferred a piece of fruit, or hard peppermints.

As I've gotten older, it's progressed to the point where super-sugary-sweet things taste gross to me. Especially really artificial sweet things. So I rarely ever eat candy or cookies, or the other traditional processed prepackaged desserts, and I don't drink soda. I'd rather have something more mildly sweet like banana bread, pound cake, pie, fruit, muffins, or Fig Newtons.
