Agreed, stay together in groups, walk away from undue confrontations and report agitators to LE. Don’t start the fight, just be ready to finish it.

Also may the injunction noted above be the first of many judgements against these GDC’s as they try to shove their socialist crap on the state.

I just got this from Representative Steve Newman:

Many of you are aware of the Governor's declaration of a "state of emergency" ahead of Monday's rally in support of our Second Amendment rights. Currently, a fence is unfortunately being built around Mr. Jefferson's Capitol for the event.

Virginia Senate Leadership, of which I am a member, have made the following statement:

HOUSE AND SENATE REPUBLICAN LEADERS ASK GOVERNOR FOR SECURE BRIEFING ON THREATS

RICHMOND, VA, 16 JANUARY 2020: House and Senate Republican leaders have written to Governor Northam requesting a secure briefing for General Assembly leaders on the threats he cited Wednesday to justify his declaration of a state of emergency in regard to the January 20th Lobby Day event.

Senate Republican Leader Thomas K. Norment (R-James City), House Republican Leader C. Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah), House Republican Caucus Chairman Kathy J. Byron (R-Campbell) and Senate Republican Caucus Chairman Ryan T. McDougle (R-Hanover) have formally requested Governor Northam brief the General Assembly leadership of both parties on the threats as quickly as possible.

“We, as members of the General Assembly, have received none of the information you have referenced to justify these restrictions,” the leaders wrote. “As such, we request that your office conduct a secure briefing on the threats identified by the Virginia Fusion Center and the Unified Command for the leadership of the General Assembly at the earliest possible time.

“We understand the need for operational security and to protect intelligence sources and methods. As such, we would suggest this briefing be conducted in a secure location of your choosing, with only the leadership of the respective majority and minority caucuses of the General Assembly — the Speaker of the House, Majority and Minority Leaders of the House and Senate, and the Chairs of the Democratic and Republican House and Senate Caucuses. No legislative staff would be included in this briefing...

“Considering the abridgment of the constitutional rights of Virginians your declaration has imposed, and because we have serious concerns about whether a governor has the authority to enact such restrictions, we believe it is imperative that leaders of the General Assembly – representing both majority and minority caucuses – are appropriately briefed as to the nature of these threats.”

Local news says a different story.

https://wtvr.com/2020/01/16/la...from-capitol-square/

RICHMOND, Va. – Ralph Northam’s executive order to temporarily ban all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a pro-gun rally on Lobby Day, will remain in effect after a Richmond judge denied a motion challenging the ban Thursday afternoon.

Judge Joi Taylor’s ruling means Northam’s ban will remain in effect and go into effect Friday through Tuesday.

We did not get an injunction. The governers emergency clause was upheld. There were alot of people spreading that as fake news.

This is a break down of the ruling from Tim Anderson

Crap.

Either way, I will not go inside their pen and be a sitting duck.

I thought we still had some judges that ruled according to the Constitutions.

VCDL email:

quote:
Yesterday, January 15, Governor Northam declared a temporary state of emergency and banned the carrying & possession of weapons on Capitol Square in Richmond from 5:00 pm Friday, January 17 to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 21.

Today, the legal teams of both VCDL and Gun Owners of America (GOA) sought an injunction against enforcement of Northam's Executive Order No. 49 (EO-49). Unfortunately, the Circuit Court denied our request for an injunction.

Both VCDL and GOA believe the court erred in it's decision and our legal team immediately filed an Emergency Petition for Review with the Virginia Supreme Court.

Just for an update as of yesterday evening. Bills that went to the senate:

SB69 One handgun per month - CHP holders exempted.
Patron of bill specifically mentioned Michael Bloomberg and an "iron pipeline" of guns from Virginia to New York.
Passes 21-19
This is an old law that Virginia has had in the past.

SB70 "Universal" background checks
Two Republicans defected.
Penalty lowered from class 6 felony to misdemeanor. Direct family transfers exempted.
Passes 23-17

SB35 Authorizes any locality by ordinance to prohibit the possession or carrying of firearms, ammunition, or components or any combination thereof in a public space during a permitted event or an event that would otherwise require a permit.
Passes 21-19
I haven't read the whole thing. Here it is: https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-b...4.exe?201+ful+SB35S1

SB240 Red Flags went without a vote yesterday. Will be voted on today.

Even if you aren't singed up for Twitter, you can still look at The Virginia Shooting Sports Associations twitter page. The VSSA is heavily involved in all this and updates their page moment by moment. https://twitter.com/VSSA
