That’s not the point. If they know you’re buying ammo, they know you own guns. Just another way to create a database of gun owners.

That’s what my point was. It’s not about anything but establishing a database of law abiding citizens to oppress later. They’ll claim it’s for stopping criminals though.

No, they aren't. But admitting that would lead to a whole HOST of non woke ideas...

Even if they don't carry a balance, the use of the card means merchant fees for the CC company. And gun/ammo purchases are usually larger than most others. If anything, this new rule will make the gun folks more likely to pay in cash and, obviously, the informed criminals would pay in cash if trying to avoid any kind of detection of watchlist.

What about multi purpose merchants? I mean, Walmart for example. You could buy 500 dollars of ammo at a Walmart, or you could buy a 500 dollar TV, or 500 worth of groceries, or a BBQ grill, or 500 worth of underwear...

All the credit card company would see is that 500 was spent at Walmart.

Now sure, if the business name is Billy Bob's Bang Bang Boutique (see what I did there?) then they might know.

Maybe every retailer should get a slick name, and sell some Snicker's bars with every purchase. Then you weren't buying ammo, you bought a 500 dollar Snicker's bar and got a case of 5.56 for free.

So now we need a tracking number for donations to the DNC and their candidates. Let’s find a 2A friendly bank to pursue this!

I love the bit about how they won't track individual purchases. This crap is just one step away from a Federal Law that Banks must report every single firearms related purchase.

I've stopped counting.

Just wait until they release the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and decide you have purchased too much ammo or too many guns and cancel your ability to purchase. Yea, like that won’t happen!!!! Roll Eyes Just watch for their excuses to eliminate physical currency.

This is one small step in a much larger plan. This piece by itself does nothing at all to prevent, detect, or prosecute crime. Therefore it is designed to lead to something else. We have seen the use of private sector businesses to enforce government restrictions which objectively are unConstitutional, aka fascism. First the banks institute data tracking. Next, government mandates it and adds provisions, such as reporting to the government and prohibiting banks from allowing certain transactions. It becomes not only a defacto gun owner registration but a defacto government control of every transaction.

Can't use ten dollar bills, either, if you only want dead presidents.

From article written in The Guardian (the bolding is my emphasis)

https://www.theguardian.com/us...redit-card-trackable

"...John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, welcomed ISO’s decision, which was announced on Friday, and said it’s now crucial for this to be implemented thoroughly.

“Today’s announcement is a critical first step towards giving banks and credit card companies the tools they need to recognize dangerous firearm purchasing trends – like a domestic extremist building up an arsenal – and report them to law enforcement,” he said in a statement shared with the Guardian. ..."

You might want to tell ATF that. They've been showing up at "multiple purchasers" homes and demanding to "inspect" the firearms purchased.

you guys - but most law enforcement agencies are short staffed and underfunded. So the eventuality of that occurring is super super low. But if it did, unless they bring a paper that starts with SW(year)-(Number)…they will not get to see the firearms…nor do you have to answer their questions. I’d even argue that in the absence of a crime, you probably don’t even have to legally identify yourself.

You talk like someone who thinks laws apply to law enforcement.

The wind can change and everything you just said becomes laughable. Look at what they are doing to Trump. That's really all I need to say.

This is just a reasonable attempt to minimize potential "gun violence" by terrorists and extremists.

Surely you wouldn't object to protecting the children, comrade?

You don’t understand what infringement is. Nor do you distinguish the difference between what you think is okay vs what they think is okay. Perhaps irrationally and on a whim. But doesn’t make a difference.

They don’t have a right or need to know what I purchase.

Why don’t we have them track alcohol purchases? How about condoms? Birth control? Porn? Where the fuck do you draw the line? I draw it at zero - they don’t need to know shit.

Bye bye.
