What about multi purpose merchants? I mean, Walmart for example. You could buy 500 dollars of ammo at a Walmart, or you could buy a 500 dollar TV, or 500 worth of groceries, or a BBQ grill, or 500 worth of underwear... All the credit card company would see is that 500 was spent at Walmart. Now sure, if the business name is Billy Bob's Bang Bang Boutique (see what I did there?) then they might know. Maybe every retailer should get a slick name, and sell some Snicker's bars with every purchase. Then you weren't buying ammo, you bought a 500 dollar Snicker's bar and got a case of 5.56 for free.
