Will do, and they replace it with a "2" Razz

FL Dealer $100K markup

I can ‘afford’ the occasional $40 cigar or a watch that might cost a few thousand dollars.

A $150k car? Not even an option to pretend anymore.

Makes me a little sad, actually.

How much did the cars you fantasized about cost? I remember when a new Suburban was $20,000 and don't like that a new one is more like $70,000, but incomes have come up considerably as well. Part of the problem with using the "when I was a kid X cost Y" logic is that we weren't paying the bills then and we can only compare yesterday's prices through the lens of today's economy.

Adjusted for inflation, Corvette base MSRP from 1984 on is reasonably close to current base MSRP.

Lamenting the price of the car we're discussing here is failing to take into account the trim level and performance numbers.

Didn't someone on this board get a red Vette about a year ago, and paid around $60K? I seem to recall him posting pics.

Yes, but I believe he preordered, put down a deposit, and waited a few years before it was delivered. The whole COVID thing pushed delivery dates back for everything.

It also avoids getting scalped by the dealer.

The "market adjustments" being applied by dealers are only eclipsed in ridiculousness by the people willing to pay them. I looked at new Sequoias a while back and it was impossible to find one for less than $20,000 over sticker. That has improved some, but even seeing a world where people are routinely just paying sticker for otherwise pretty pedestrian vehicles is strange.

My brother has a 2023 Corvette Z06. It is currently at the dealer awaiting parts. It seems they are prone to developing an oil link. Fixing it will require dropping the engine. The dealer says this is the second Z06 they've done.

Just an update with the second Z06 we have received. I consulted with the car Gods when I ordered it and they said to make it like the last one but I added the visible carbon fiber wheels and the carbon fiber ground effects. It lists for $158k

Can your shop dismount & mount the tires on the carbon fiber wheels? I've heard many dealerships won't.

You would think that for $150K, lug nuts (even black ones) would be a freebie.

The C8 is indeed an impressive super car; I would own one if I could. That said, I think its styling is too angular to be called “beautiful.”

Beautiful is a Ferrari 812, an Aston Martin DBS, a Maserati MC20, and the classic 911. Lines evoking the female form. That’s just me. The performance is astounding though.

I think you did a great job of wording your sentiments. I feel the same, particularly about lines that evoke the female form. Us dudes are just wired that way. Give me curves over angles any day.

As a matter of fact one of the main things that drew me to my 2016 INFINITI QX70 are the curvy lines swooping around the nose and the fenders.

The thing that makes me not love the looks of the current Corvette is the mix of straight lines with some fair degree of curvyness. It is as if they couldn't make up their minds what the theme of the car is.

A '70s Countach is all angles and lines. A 250GT is all curves. This Corvette is neither fish nor fowl.

A 70's Countach and a 250GT never had to deal with aerodynamics. The Z06 is also a pure performance car so there's a lot more "go faster" bits that doesn't help the beauty.
