Recon is a special operations field within the Marine Corps. Force recon is a little more “elite” special operations tier within the Marine Corps. MARSOC is the equivalent of SEALS or Green Berets but while they are Marine Corps, they work directly for JSOC (joint special operations command) along side of SEALs, Green Berets, Delta, Rangers, etc. Recon units do “green” special operations missions, MARSOC does more of the black missions. BRC is the basic recon course. |

| JlJones, I feel your pain. Over the weekend, I took my son and some of his friends on a 3 day camping trip. It’s the last weekend I will spend with my son for a long time. He graduates from high school tomorrow. He leaves 6/29 for the Army. He has a 68W with an option 40. In layman’s speak, his MOS (or AIT as the Army calls it) will be a Combat Medic with a guarantee he will attend RASP (Ranger Assessment and Selection Process). He has a long road... Semper Fidelis to your son. I am excited, jealous, and sad at the same time. I imagine you feel the same.
