Congrats, Dad. My boy is an AF pilot and recently got the opportunity to transport Our President, DJT's, Beasts. Service above self from all our American Hero's. Pat him on the back for me.

Justifiably so, and may God bless him and you for being the role model.

Please convey to your son : US Marines (USMC) Motto. The Marine Corps adopted Semper Fidelis as its official motto in 1883. (Semper Fidelis is also the title of the official musical March of the Marine Corps). U.S. Marines use an abbreviated verbal version, "Semper Fi". to voice loyalty and commitment to their Marine comrades-in-arms.

Congrats

Update on page 1- looks like he’s going on on a recon contract. Obviously doesn’t guarantee him anything but a slot at BRC, and a chance to try for 2nd Recon. Despite my attempts at diversion, he wants to go recon/force/MARSOC.

More power to him.

When I look back and think I could have gone into recon, special ops, etc, I come back to my senses when I feel the cold water from my shower head before the hot water comes out. There is just so much misery I can take, and there is a lot of misery in training and on an operation. I APPLAUD those who set their mind to the goal and accomplishes it!

My son wanted to go the same direction. Blame it on youthful piss and vinegar. After many talks by me, colleagues and professors in his field of study (music), and advice from a couple broken down old grunts, he decided he wanted to be a Marine Corps musician. He still has a year to go for his degree before he can go. He told me he might still try out for MARSOC (Raiders) though since they accept all MOSs. This old Airwing Marine just shakes his head.
