All this BS makes my blood boil.

My family visited the Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg, VA yesterday. The graves of ALL service members were marked with the appropriate flag, depending on their service. US, Confederate and French.

Yes, there was one Frenchman there who served under Napoleon!

There was one oddity that was pointed out by a historian who was giving a tour of the cemetery. The flags for servicemen of Confederacy in one section was the battle flag while the flags for those in another section were the CSA national flag.

The reason for the difference was the battle flags were in the section that is privately owned and maintained while the national flags were in the section owned and maintained by the city. The city didn't want to stir any crap by displaying the battleflag.

we'll just have to erase every reference to US history that took place before about 2000.

Sounds familiar, my wife who grew up in Communist Russia said they were taught no history prior to the Revolution. History began in 1917!

She'd have to change the states constitution to do so iirc. They all protected under it

Since when have DemonRATS ever let anything like a pesky Constitutional constraint get in the way of telling their lessers how to think and act correctly?

The oddity that I was referencing pertained to the current PC BS of the leftists, as it applies to southern heritage.

When we visited several years ago, all of the Confederate flags were battle flags.

I live in Alabama and hadn't heard of this or seen it in our weekly paper ... have not yet read this week's fish wrapper and haven't watched TV news in a long time. Read about it first, here on SF.

I grew up in Selma Alabama. Yep, that Selma Alabama. We had a publicly displayed bronze bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest. The city relented some years ago to a sustained minority protest and moved the bust to the oldest cemetery in town.

The bronze bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest was stolen in 2012 from the cemetery.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Friends of Forrest replaced the bronze bust three years later in 2015.

The 7-foot monument honors Forrest as a lieutenant general for the Confederacy during the Civil War and refers to him as "Defender of Selma" and "Wizard of the Saddle."

"This monument stands as a testament of our perpetual devotion and respect for Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest CSA 1821-1877, one of the South's finest heroes," it states.

I don't go back to Selma often anymore but was there last year for a funeral. The park like area of the Nathan Bedford Forrest monument in Old Live Oak Cemetery is quite serene.
