I think employment should be based on work produced, period. I don’t give a damn what people do in their off time from work. In a skilled profession, you are expected to perform. What you do on your own time should be your own business. I’ve seen a top performer get a random, fail it, and get fired. Meanwhile the drunk in our group that showed up hungover every single day and didn’t do shit, nothing ever happened. We sure as shit had to do all his work for him. The guy that got fired was always on point, and never seem inebriated, not once.

Put me in the group that cares about how well they do their jobs, not what’s in their bloodstream.

Ever hear of “state learning”? I know a couple of guys who learned all they knew of their professions while under the influence of their chemical of choice. Great at their jobs when under the influence, but incompetent when sober.

There is CBD from hemp also. It has to be below 0.003% by weight.
However, If the whole hemp plant is used they call it full spectrum. It has all the components that are in a hemp plant. The terpenes, cannabinol, THC, the whole plant. It has an entourage effect. It still has to be legal by weight, but this kind works. It can be tincture, gummies, chocolates. You will fail a drug test tho.

Of course when they have THC in them. Most CBD doesn’t but the CBD that does lists the amount. Some I believe are as high as 1:1. If you fail a drug test because of CBD you’re not being honest with what type you took.

You hit the nail on the head!

Many years ago, my supervisor comes to me and says something along the line of;"go to this location, you've been picked for a random drug test". I told him, "You and I both know I don't do drugs, and I rarely drink. This is a waste of time and money".

At that time, I was just starting out with CPAP to address sleep apnea. After bad nights, I'd be very groggy and mumbled my words. So I thought that had something to do with my "random" pick. He assured me, that with random, even clean guys get picked occasionally. If they targeted anyone obvious, it wouldn't be random.

To their credit, the obviously impaired were given opportunities by going into rehabs.
Over time though, if they didn't improve, they were the first for any layoffs.

By word of mouth, we were all careful around others of questionable judgment to avoid injury.

Many years later, we have downsized considerably, all of the questionable people who didn't improve are gone.
