While I did agree that Gabbard sounded the least wacky of the lot, after reading this I might change my mind. She is basically saying "I will negotiate with terrorists". She argues that to stop Iran from attacking anyone else we need to re-enter the nuclear deal and drop the sanctions. WTF??? Hey the worlds leading sponsor of terror makes an outburst and she she gives in. Hey lady, that nuclear deal didn't even come close to stopping Iran from getting the bomb. It helped them. Sanctions are working, the proof is their attack.

I'm beginning to question how much Iran is paying her. She constantly attacks Saudi Arabia (and they deserve it) but then turns around and wants to let Iran off the hook?

Is Bernie Over? Sanders Campaign Might Be Nearing Its End

According to Politico, the Sanders campaign is in real trouble. With declining numbers, especially in early primary states like Iowa, and the looming threat of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), it’s clear Sanders is no longer considered the chosen progressive, and it may be time for him to beat a quick route to the exit...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Bernie just raised $25MM bucks in the last quarter. I don't think he's going away with that kind of coin in his pocket.

Once he's convinced that he can't win... it becomes a matter of how best to deploy that money. If he keeps going until he burns up all the money, it won't do him much good.

... which I see is pretty much what erj_pilot just said. Smile

I don't doubt Warren, Biden, and the DNC WANT him gone... but you see how he held on in 2016... the dude has nothing else to do and really doesn't care if he loses.

I don't think he's going ANYWHERE until next summer at the earliest.

True. That kind of buckage gives him a lot of leverage if he quits the race, but deploys the money in support of another candidate, or the eventual nominee. I don't think he is going to win the nomination. I'm betting it will be a badly wounded "Shotgun Joe" Biden, or Indian Queen Hav- Me-a-Beer Liz Warren.

All in, it will be a shitshow that I expect Trump will win. But he will likely win ugly, and unless the Dems really fuck up the impeachment stuff, I doubt the Republicans will take back the house, which means the grid-lock, investigation-a-thon will continue. I expect the Republicans will hold the Senate.

Other than a Trump win, and at least one more Supreme Court Judge (here's looking at YOU, Ruthie...), I don't think the next three, and possibly the next five, years will be much fun politically.

Agreed. It’s going to get pretty ugly, but the results of an enema tend to be.

Now that is an interesting question. Who will Elizabeth Warren (or who ever will be the nominee) pick for her Vice President? Something tells me that Pence isn't too worried about it though.

Salt Lake City to host 2020 Vice Presidential Debate

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City will host the 2020 Vice Presidential debate, Fox 13 has confirmed.

The Commission on Presidential Debates announced the selection on Friday. The debate will be for the 2020 Election.

Utah is the only western state selected for the three presidential debates and sole vice presidential debate.

I'm now convinced that the Dems WILL nominate this scold, America's Mother-in-Law, Warren

She will pick someone who is:

Young
Gay
Minority

Count on it.

You're likely right. In fact, I've heard rumors she might pick Andrew Gillum.

I'm sure you did hear of him when he was running for Florida's Governor, you just forgot about him. Like most normal people.

Believe there is the possibility of an FBI investigation concerning his time as Mayor of Tallahassee.

I think this face says it all. You're a millionaire running a self funded campaign and this is the moment you realize that this is the party you chose to run in.

For those of you wondering whether Bernie will get out, consider this; in the mind of someone as shallow and shortsighted as a socialist, all he has to do is stay alive and in office long enough to make appointments that his veep can't or won't get rid of. That allows him to bypass all the "rightwingers" he hates in the Democratic Party, and may give him the clout to bring as many of the people he approves of into positions of power in the Democratic Party as possible. If he manages to hold on any longer than that, it's all gravy.

And if his health doesn't hold up long enough for him to campaign successfully? He's a symbol, and whoever he designates his veep candidate can still run aggressively for the combined ticket. Imagine the combination of protest votes and sympathy votes! Imagine the thrill of having an actual stalking horse to play with from his living room couch! Imagine the joy of playing Mutt and Jeff between an actual candidate and a shadow candidate - there'll be no responsibility for anything either Bernie or his would-be veep ever say!

No, none of that really makes sense as a political policy. Yes, that is something a far-leftie who may feel he doesn't have much longer to live might consider a worthwhile exercise in "sticking it to the man".

IOW, natural causes may well lead to Bernie's demise or incapacitation, but he's not getting out of the race.

I agree Bernie is not getting out of the race, but he's almost totally irrelevant at this point. In 2016, much of what you noted might have been viable. At this point, Bernie isn't especially progressive or unique in any way. As a matter of fact, he's almost un-progressive when compared to some of the other nitwits in the Dem primary. Bernie's time is past regardless what he does now. The Dem primary is all about Biden and Warren, with Biden treading water at this point.
