12 inches of snow here in N.E. Ohio and most everything shut down.
I made it to work, barely, because it's my business but I won't be here long. Called all the employees and told them to stay home.
Yay Winter.

Only about 5-6” here, but the sleet and then freezing rain on top of it turned pushing off light powdery snow with the wide blade shovel (I like the exercise) into a snow blowing event. What a mess. The 20-30 mph wind with up to 55 mph gusts isn’t helping.

We got 5-6 in Northern VA, topped by an inch or so of rain. Fun day at work yesterday got in at 10am Sunday, got off at 7am today. Hopefully I can get a nap in. Our entire campus is snow free though.

I dug out the car this morning and warmed it up. Then I planned to take my wife to work but the snow is too deep on the roads. We got stuck right outside of our drive way. I had to dig the car out of the road just to put the car away. She called into work to say she’ll be there after the city plows decide to get to work.

Warren city is broke so no plows here yet. The township I live in outside of Warren did plow but it was still dicey getting to work in 4WD. Most cars can't even get through this deep of snow.

I reached my USDA inspector and told him we're not producing today so I'll save money since it's a federal holiday.

To top things off, my snowblower's electric start is broke and I don't think I want to pull my shoulder out of joint with the pull start so I'll be shoveling.

Funny, we only got like 2" in my neck of No. Virginia. But the Jan 2-3 storm netted us almost a foot, whereas other places only 10-15 miles away got closer to 6." GUSTY winds last night for sure!

I work on the east side and live on the south side.
Normally it takes me 15 mins to take 480 to 77 to get home.
77 at 480 was impassable this morning. I got stuck on a late arrest and a coworker texted me and said don’t take the freeway. It took me 47 mins to get home via streets because other people were totally unprepared for this and were stuck. It normally takes me 23 mins to get home using the streets.

And of course as soon as I turn on my street, someone’s sliding all over the place. I get out and push them into a driveway and take my ass home so I can shovel snow for half an hour to get into the garage. Already spent too much time in the snow chasing the moron who decided to try and steal atvs.

And I thank God for watching out for me. I never fell once jumping fences or running in the snow.

We had two calls of disabled vehicles on 271. We got to one. We never got to the other one because of the break in. Dayshift had to deal with it and a bunch of other people stuck. I got out of there before they could order me to stay. Lol. They had 7 working dayshift. We had 4 working nights.

Not minority enough!

We’re over in New Castle. Our mayor issued a disaster emergency proclamation that expires tomorrow at 7am. I think that means they’re not bothering with the side roads. Looks like they may have done the emergency routes but we couldn’t get to it if we needed to.

Luckily, my snow blower started on the second pull. I was pleasantly surprised. That non-ethanol fuel seems to really be the key.

I got about 8" last night and now it is heavy rain. I went out just as it was turning to rain to use the snow blower. It would have gotten too heavy in the rain to deal with. Now I just have a slushy mess in the driveway and the town plow just blocked my driveway with a snow pile for the 3rd time.

They do a great job but it still is frustrating every time they plow me in. Later I will have a lot of ice to deal with.

These go to eleven.

No snow but rain and the wind is gusting past 60 mph.

The house is shaking with the gusts.

By the time I got home (5mi from work) I was down to 1.5-2in with melting from the rain. I live only five miles east from work, but I'm guessing we had inch or two less at my house. Hard to tell with the rain.

I just spent an hour and a half clearing about 16" out of the driveway. Ran the snowblower out of gas once so far. Now I have to clear a path for the dogs and a path to the chicken coop after a cup of coffee. Then I have to fix the mailbox, it got decapitated.

Got about 12-15” in the Harrisonburg/Staunton area. Made it to the hotel from work last night in 4WD and low gear. Mile trip took 15 minutes. Just came back to work. No issues but I’m still discouraging people from going out if they don’t have an immediate need. Refreeze tonight could make it really bad.

And here I am worried about having to get up and around by 5:00PM to take my wife to supper. The place is great and we eat there regularly. But it should be manageable since we only got maybe an inch or an inch and a half. The wife clearly got out early, like before I got my lazy ass out of bed. I didn't really do it because my dog decided I needed to get up.

Don't care where she went as long as she doesn't expect me to come get her. The cure for all this is to just go back to bed. The dog won't allow that. Its good to be lazy.

We escaped for a change. Unseasonable warm today with temps to hit 59°F. Big Grin

But Wednesday we'll be barely out of single digits for highs. Frown

Only got about an inch of snow topped with about an inch of freezing rain/sleet. It was windy as hell though but no power outage for us this time Big Grin. Ground froze over the last few days so I think that helped quite a bit as the last snow storm occurred after a soaking rain which made the ground quite soggy.
