I am convinced you are a troll. This election was 100% about Trump. As someone else said, regarding a 30 year old voter - do your job, and stop the grandstanding. He was a great campaigner for the 2016 elections, and we needed that, as it stopped Hillary. But 10+ years have passed, and rarely does one soften as they get older. Biden became basically useless as he got older, and Trump is facing the same cruel impact of time. He is still energetic, but the negatives are being magnified with time.

If he had toned it down, would Thune and the other RINOs have passed the Save America Act? .

This is pretty much what happened. From what I hear on the radio, it seems Democrats in general got their people to the polls compared to 2022. TX has a little over 19 million registered voters in 2026 and slightly less than half turned out. Almost 10 million voters stayed home. Shame on the Republicans who did not vote. Both my wife and I are stunned this morning, especially with Abbott out, this is a tough pill to swallow. Virginia stayed full retard. I knew Mark Warner would win. I still do not like that guy. Besides his politics, I hated having to be on his protection detail. I really like the wife and kids though. What pisses me off is the automatic restoration of rights for felons to vote. Low level crimes okay, but Felony 1 and 2. Bullshit... Now the surprise to me is Kansas. I followed Kansas politics for over 20 years because that is one of the places I wanted to work and live. So, I am not sure what happened and what the disconnect was/is. I mean R' s held the seat for over a century. Here in NC. No Suprise that Cooper one. Nor that it turned even more blue. The transplants from other states have ruined this state like they ruined Virginia I am surprised the voter ID one passed. All three constitutional amendments on the North Carolina ballot comfortably passed. It was one of the few wins for Republicans on the night. The wins mean North Carolina will expand its voter identification rules, cap the state income tax at 3.5%, and limit property tax increase that local governments can impose. Side Note... The other half went and registered to vote on Saturday at the local library. As she was walking up the drive, to elderly ladies, one for the D and one for R approached her and asked if she would like information on the candidates/amendments. The other half said sure. When she got home, she gave them to me. The one for the Democrats was incredible. It was a double side paper of heavy stock and glossy. The front side had a list with picture of the candidates and a little information on each. The flip side had the amendments and adjacent to it was a short paragraph in common language about why a yes or no vote is important. The information sheet was well organized, it flowed nicely, perfect font, color and easy on the eyes. It was nicely spaced and was not all congested. The R's was pathetic. It was a sheet of red paper with a blurry picture of the ballot, and it was marked a Republican should vote for. Not information on the candidates or amendments, and the font was tiny. It seemed all the ads on regular television was dominated by the D's. It seems that Ohio still has that downhill trajectory going for it. Every time I think about relocating back to Columbus, if I could find work I am reminded what Columbus has/is turning into. (That and the guys from the old neighborhood keep me updated)

I've been here nearly 20 years and I've been voting straight Republican the same amount of time. I have zero to gain from "trolling". I think Trump is literally saying Republican turnout was soft and would have been much stronger had this been another presidenal election cycle.

Paul, It was the same here in Missouri. We got our asses whipped. We lost our seat in Congress to a lib/socialist. But after 12 years Ann Wagner just didn't excite anyone and everyone saw through her RINO voting ways... Maybe we can get someone better to run for Congress in two years. As an incumbent, we weren't going to defeat her in a primary. Maybe you have to lose sometimes to re-focus. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

A stark reminder that voting is still about the economy particularly gas prices. Gas price signs are what people see everyday multiple times a day and serve as a constant reminder how much it costs for the average person to live in today's economy. Even at that it makes no sense to vote the commies in. Such is human nature and the voting booth. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

I personally think Republicans did not turn out because of the republicans congress. When you don’t do what you say you are going to do, people won’t vote especially when it’s a congress only election. Many fought against Trump especially in judicial appointments. Now we can watch the Dems work in lock step to impeach again and pass some crazy bills. Hopefully they will never find 60 votes to overturn a veto.

I'm not in TX so I'm not well versed in the political dynamics there. But with the flood of those stinking liberal kalifornians, I'm reminded of the "Colorado Project." Am I far off?

The Grass Roots opinion re the above: we don't have a Republican Congress so, your point is well taken. We have Uniparty members who run with an 'R' purely to get elected. It's bad that the GOPe has sunk so low.

People don’t vote for their own party because they’re unhappy with their own party, and in this case especially from the top down, and whether or not they are willing (or even able) to admit it among themselves. I have seen countless examples of that just in my adult lifetime. Do I wish that Harris or Clinton or AOC were/had been the President? Of course not. That’s arrant nonsense. But it’s also nonsense to believe that everyone who normally votes Republican was cultic blind to some of the ridiculousness we’ve seen for the past two years. Should they have voted anyway? Of course, but vast numbers of people don’t think like that. “Most men … can seldom accept the simplest and most obvious truth if it … would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions … which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their lives.” — Leo Tolstoy

Gas prices have been a story every night on the local news. It'll be interesting to see if that continues. The stories amazingly got the average price in my county wrong to the high side every single time. For example, the story on Monday was the average price was $3.81 when I didn't see a single price over $3.63 even by the interstate where prices are typically higher.

Yes, far off. Look at my post above. An average of 80,000 Californians per year have moved to TX in the last 15 years. There are not millions upon millions of them, they don't make up 20%, 25%, 50% of the population. Plus a certain percentage of them are Republicans. Muslims make up a couple of hundred thousand, Indian immigrants around 600-800,000. I agree with a Texas conservative pundit that the bigger issue with changing demographics in Texas in regards to elections are the younger people who have gone through public schools systems and universities, social media. Basically homegrown lefties. But at the end of the day, when 10 million Texas registered voters stay home instead of choosing the better of two scenarios, the party that shows up will win. And this year, judging from the voting pattern, Democrats came out and made the difference, not independents. And certainly not Republicans. There was a massacre in Texas. A Talarico win was bad enough but Abbots loss was an unexpected gut punch. And then, it just gets worse from there. Democrats won everything from railroad commissioner to agriculture commissioner. The county I live in has been solid red for several decades. Now it’s blue. There is truly no bottom when it comes to human stupidity. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

That was Trump's ego speaking, not his brain. If Trump had been on the ballot last night, he would have lost as well, and badly. Rationalizing the problem is counterproductive to fixing it. Most Americans view the last two years as a disaster. Trump has governed as if he never has to worry about winning another election. That's correct for him, but his party still had one to get through. This term has been a disaster in the minds of swing voters. What have been the big stories? - Immigration: Almost all Americans wanted the tighter border security that Trump promised. Few Americans wanted the aggressive deportation of illegals already in the country that came along with it. With the optics around the high profile ICE shootings, immigration went from a positive topic to a negative for Republicans in the minds of swing voters. Strike one. - Tariffs: Swing voters want a strengthened American economy, but not at the cost of alienating our allies and trade partners. The bully tactics used to "negotiate" tariffs that turned out to be illegal anyway turned off a lot of moderates. Strike two. - Iran War: The war has been hugely unpopular, with something like 80% of Americans opposing it. A large part of that has been Trump's poor communication, really no communication, about the reasons for it. Without explaining the rationale to folks who get their news in short snippets, if at all, it comes across as an ill-conceived and poorly-executed act of aggression that has gained us nothing and cost us economically and diplomatically. Even if you're right, you have to communicate. Strike three. Add to that the silly, petty stuff like renaming lakes and gulfs, and the swing voters who returned Trump to office two years ago said last night, "Get the hell out of my house and take your friends with you." Again, we have to understand why we lost if we hope to fix it. But don't try to rationalize it. Let's take it on the chin, learn from it, and do better. Edited to add a fourth strike - redistricting. The political shenanigans around the redistricting attempts backfired spectacularly. American hate political chicanery, so it's a PR loss. And when you try to create more red districts out of the same voting population, you must, by necessity, dilute the more solidly red districts. This makes previously uncompetitive districts suddenly competitive and susceptible to flipping. J Rak Chazak Amats
