Sorry guys, Alaska really isn't helping. Early returns have been going back and forth but, does not look promising. Petola, the dem has 54% of the vote right now over incumbent rep Dan Sullian which will not trigger ranked choice if the trend continues. This is even after the the whole Decoy Dan fiasco that her campaign was behind.

Governor right now is going to the dem running against 3 reps. But he has now dropped below 50% which will trigger ranked choice and maybe some hope.

US Rep has been flip flopping between the incumbent rep Begich and independent Bill Hill. Hope Begich can get 50% +1, otherwise ranked choice kicks in and the dem currently has 10% of the vote and I doubt if a majority of the folks that voted for him marked Begich as their second choice.

As bad as I thought last night might be, it was way way worse.

What an absolute ass whooping. I'm frankly a bit shell shocked.

I see a few of you trying to pin this on Trump. Please stop that shit. Trump has already spoken on this: "I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter." President DONALD J. TRUMP

I’m right there with you. This is neither the end of the world, nor was it a major surprise.

I’ve done some traveling around the country the past month, for work.

I’ve been (over)exposed to political ads in many states and the Dem candidates all had one theme: Donald Trump is evil and my Republican opponent is his tool.

That theme was invariable from state to state, reinforced by the media’s message as well.

Unfortunately, this strategy seemed to have worked. I’m not blaming Trump, other than his poor political timing of hitting Iran and driving inflation right before an election cycle… notwithstanding that Iran needed to be decapitated… and inflation hasn’t been as high as it was under Biden, gas was comparatively more expensive under Obama.

El Sayed winning in Michigan and Talarico winning in Texas are shocking results…. But the Republicans put up candidates that were more or less uninspiring politicians who could be saddled with their recent political pasts… the battle space was prepared to defeat them… and the Republican establishment just can’t let go of “it’s our turn to spend trillions and we just can’t let go of the complete control of our party. Trump is the real interloper.”

Well, sun is gonna come up this morning, some bad legislation is going to pass and the prolonged torture of Donald Trump will once again commence.

We will live to fight another day.

Sorry, I don't think you were watching the same election season I was.

Locally it was 100% about Trump policies, reining in Trump, our incumbent (one of the most moderate Republicans in the House) always voting "with Trump," etc.

For over two years the Dems have been waiting for a night like this.
God help us. Its going to be insane next year.

I wonder how long it takes them to impeach Trump & Vance?
With both the house & the senate in Dem control I will guess not long.

This is a typical mid-term shift that was magnified by the short sighted voters who failed to see the big picture/long-term plays of Trump.

What a mess. I’m torn between the republicans having done this to themselves through their desire not to support Trump and this all being part of the plan to go back to their two party grift. I’m very concerned for my kids futures now more than ever.

This not only impacts control at the Federal level. Many State races had Dem's running on the anti-Trump campaign as well. As much as a prefer Trump over the alternative, he certainly gave the Voters plenty of campaign fodder to leverage. (regardless of its validity)

And in other news, it’s colder here this morning than it was this time of day last July.

The time for reevaluations was long ago, not now: barn, door, horse.

Not too much about the results surprised me but Texas and El Sayed make me wonder what the country will be like in 10 or 20 years.

I’m still processing the events even though I wasn’t optimistic about the outcome.

I watched a video on X (yes X!) from a 30 yo guy and I think he was correct in that people just want politicians to “do their fucking jobs”, and stop all this grandstanding.

As much as I like what Trump has done and I’m willing to ignore his antics many people are just fed up with his BS. That plus the absolute resistance of our Congress do get anything constructive done led to a lot of incumbents loosing their seats.

Do I think that the new crop of elected officials will understand that and work to move our country forward? Not a chance in hell… The next two years will probably be one impeachment proceeding after another…

Like I said I’m still processing everything
