Good reply to Matt Walsh...

"Matt, everybody saw the political cost. That’s not the same as knowing the right call.

Yes, a hard fight was going to cost. Anybody paying attention knew that. Knowing the price isn’t the same as proving you shouldn’t pay it.

A nuclear Iran was foreseeable too.

You’ve weighed one and zeroed out the other, then called the math wisdom.
“For that reason alone” is the tell.

You’re saying even if the mission were right on the merits, the midterm risk makes it a mistake.
That’s not conservatism. That’s letting Talarico, el-Sayed, and Sand set American foreign policy from the cheap seats.

The other side doesn’t get a veto over whether we stop a regime that’s spent 47 years chanting death to America because their voters might get motivated.

And “preventable” cuts both ways.
The political hit was preventable by never starting.
It was also preventable by naming the mission, finishing it, and coming home.

What isn’t a strategy is freezing halfway, watching the polls, and treating the retreat as vindication.

Voters don’t punish strength that works.
They punish quagmires and leaders who sound afraid of their own shadow.
A victory lap for the panic doesn’t fix either one.

The Democrats are a real threat.
So is the bomb.
We don’t pick which danger we’re allowed to notice.
We finish the job, then we govern like we mean it.

That’s how you keep the House, the Senate, and the country.

Americans don’t rally to managed decline and “I told you so.”
They rally to leaders who still believe we can do hard things.

Believe it.
For the Republic.
Cheers."

Trump Announces Largest Ever US Steel Plant

The president joined leaders from Mesabi Metallics to reveal the news from the White House on Monday.

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump revealed plans for the biggest steel plant in United States history during a 2 p.m. ET announcement from the White House on Monday.

“This plant will produce some of the highest quality, most affordable steel anywhere in the world,” Trump said during the event.

Mesabi Metallics executives joined the president and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) in the Oval Office to highlight the company’s $15 billion investment in Iowa, with the exact location details expected to be announced during the ceremony.

After the first phase of construction is complete, the facility will produce approximately 7.5 million tons of steel annually, increasing to 10 million tons per year once fully constructed.

The build-out is expected to take about three years, adding more than 5,000 construction jobs and about 1,750 permanent positions, adding more than $95 billion to Iowa’s economy by 2040, according to White House estimates.

Mesabi’s development marks the first so-called mega-steel plant built in the nation in more than 60 years. The Bethlehem Steel Burns Harbor Works in Indiana was built near Lake Michigan between 1962 and 1964.

Mesabi recently invested $2.5 billion in iron ore production facilities in Nashwauk, Minnesota, which will provide material for steel production at its new Iowa operation.

“This deal will be mined, melted, and made right here in the U.S.A., which is something very unusual,” Trump said.

The Trump administration prioritized reshoring manufacturing, using 50 percent tariffs on foreign steel to incentivize domestic development.

“Everyone’s building their plant here because they don’t want to pay tariffs,” Trump said during the ceremony. “It’s really not that complicated.”

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and the president also announced in March plans for the first steel plant in the nation since the 1960s slated for Ascension Parish near Donaldsonville. A joint venture between Hyundai Steel, Hyundai Motor Group, and POSCO, the $5.8 billion investment will produce about 2.7 million tons per year of coated sheet steel for its automobile manufacturing operations.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Kurt Schlichter: We Are So Tired of the Loudmouth Quitters

quote:
But we have gotten a lot, all of which this nonsense strategy of sitting out the midterms puts at risk. See the border? It’s closed. What kind of idiot would think it’s a great idea to give power to the people who want open borders in order to protest Donald Trump not deporting quite enough illegal aliens so far? And you’re mad about gas prices? Do you think the party that hates fossil fuels, that wants us riding buses with homicidal hobos or pedaling bicycles like ponytailed gender-studies TAs, is going to make for lower gas prices? They’re going to shut down our entire petroleum industry. Do you think that’s going to make gas cheaper, Einstein? In what universe do you live? Did you think this through?

JMO that the Loudmouths are in lockstep with the agenda to get the house and or senate swapped, why, because the theater of wild actions in DC will explode, the news cycle will take off, the clicks and views and news stories about impeachment, Trump, and all the problems, the war, prices it will all become major stories and thus, major revenue.

JMO though....

Trump slams Time staff during interview for not asking ‘one f‑‑‑ing positive question’
Trump lashed out after a question about Mitch McConnell and defended his White House access ban as a court fight continued.

President Donald Trump grew frustrated during an interview with TIME Senior Political Correspondent Eric Cortellessa, lashing out at journalists for asking "negative" questions instead of praising his accomplishments.
After being asked about the health of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell , Trump lost his cool and complained about media coverage, calling it "fake news" while engaging in tangents.
During the exchange, Trump claimed credit for "fixing the White House" and boasted about his handling of Venezuela, questioning why reporters failed to ask about his successes.
Shifting to pardons, Trump stated, "Sleepy Joe gave pardons to everybody," and complained he lacks the same latitude, labeling the situation a "disappointment to a lot of Republicans."

Trump’s first-year government overhaul delivers change Washington hasn’t seen since the 1960s
IRS audit revenue dropped 35% after nearly 10,000 agents were let go, a government report shows

By Robert Schmad | Fox News
Published October 2, 2026 6:00am EDT

The Trump administration has reduced the federal workforce to the lowest point in roughly 60 years, according to newly released data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

As of August, just 2.67 million people were employed by the federal government, down from just over 3 million when President Donald Trump took office, marking the lowest headcount since 1966, per the BLS.

The administration has estimated those cuts will produce significant savings, with OPM projecting that its Deferred Resignation Program alone will save more than $20 billion a year. But the reductions have also come with costs.

Revenue collected from IRS examinations fell 35%, from about $10 billion in fiscal 2024 to $6.5 billion in fiscal 2025, as the agency was undergoing steep workforce reductions that ultimately cut examination and collection staffing by nearly 10,000 employees, according to a Treasury watchdog.

Former President Joe Biden secured nearly $80 billion in 2022 for the IRS over 10 years to upgrade its systems, improve taxpayer service and hire more staff, including enforcement personnel.

The Trump administration has proposed further IRS cuts for 2027.

Not all agencies have been hit the same by the Trump administration’s cuts.

The Departments of Education, Agriculture and Housing and Urban Development have been cut particularly hard, whereas headcount at the Department of Homeland Security, which has been responsible for carrying out much of the president’s immigration agenda, has remained largely unchanged.

Not included in the BLS’ count of government employees are the roughly 1.35 million members of the armed services or the approximately 100,000 people employed by intelligence agencies.

Cutting the size of the federal workforce, a project that was eventually spearheaded by the Department of Government Efficiency and the Office of Personnel Management, was a major campaign promise during Trump’s 2024 run as he vowed to slim down what he said was a bloated government.

GAO found that agencies spent about $6.7 billion paying employees who took part in the Deferred Resignation Program, which allowed many of them to stop working while still collecting a paycheck until they officially left government. The Partnership for Public Service also estimated the government spent $12.1 million rehiring workers who had previously been fired during the administration’s workforce reductions.

Despite the cuts, most of which happened during the president’s first year in office, the Trump administration spent 3% more on federal salaries during its first year in power than the Biden administration did during its initial year.

If Republicans win the midterm elections, the president has promised to cut $5,000 checks to all adult American citizens, a long-shot promise that, if followed through on, would cost the nation between $1.2 trillion and $1.35 trillion.
