Just woke up to this news, watched Fox for awhile. Dude traveled by train, had a room booked at the Hilton, perhaps planned for months. I have no idea whether one can transport guns on a cross-country train, legally or not. Dan Bongino was the only talking head who spoke sense this morning- stop with the "violent rhetoric from both sides" bullshit, all of this is coming from only ONE SIDE.

The one thing about this assassination attempt is that maybe the media/news personalities now see this from the muzzle side of a gun; they see this from Trump's perspective. Because all of them were holding onto the floor, scared shitless.

This time the "man with a gun" was a threat to the journalists in the ballroom and they all hid under tables and waited for the good guys in SS and LE to secure the area. MAYBE this will cause them to change.

Just a few hours earlier I watched some media asshole claim that Trump wanted to kill journalists and eliminate the 1st amendment and it was an insult to journalists to invite him to the dinner. This guy needs a talking to by SS.

EDITED TO ADD:

I can't remember if Amtrack does any metal detector or X-Ray before boarding. Last and only time I took Amtrack was in 2009.

Good that they got the guy, alive and apparently unharmed. To find out actually what's up, if LE is still allowed to do that behind what will no doubt be a wall of liberal lawyers coming up. But - according to our extremely reliable and truthful American media, most of which was in attendance, 8 shots were fired. And no one hit except one SS agent (thankfully also apparently uninjured). Did the perp fire all 8 shots (with not a single round of return fire)? And if not, not one round connected with the admittedly fast moving target, who for all anyone knew could have been covered head-to-foot with explosives, or carrying an automatic weapon? And if the plan was just to tackle him, why fire at all? Brave lads all no doubt (and edited to add also not getting paid), but again I'm somewhat perplexed at SS marksmanship (which in this case may actually have resulted in a positive outcome quite by accident).

Too many folks love their cutie pie bad boys like Luigi Mangione or Jussie Smollett so here come some sickening responses. May Allen's anus prolapse from abuse.

Meanwhile, not that constructive but a fun ride. Buckle up...

I can dispute it because it is simply not true in 2026. I am sorry that you find the Second Amendment amd flying with lawful checked luggage to be bullshit. You are repeating something that simply isn’t true. Now despite your best efforts, if you’d said the chances of having an armed federal agent on most flights in and out of DC are good would be true.

But, it still doesn’t explain your concern with people exercising their Second amendment Rights and checking guns in their luggage. Care to explain why in your world thos should cause concern to the government?

Fox News just reminded me that SS is still unfunded as a part of DHS. Democrats have no decency.

They have stated that Allen purchased the two guns in California during the last few years, possibly verifying the background check is in fact registration. Especially since they know this within 12 hours of the event.

That guy was really moving past a check point. Were all the shots from the security detail? They missed the target but a good guy was hit? I've heard 5-8 shots fired, luckily only one agent hit in the vest.

Yeah, I don't see why people are flabbergasted that one can fly anywhere in the U.S. with guns, people do it everyday. Unloaded, locked in a case, check in as special luggage, ammunition too. And DC is not exempt from this procedure.

In CA, handguns as well as long guns are registered with the CA DOJ, they fill out another form we don't in the free states called a DROS which is separate from the Form 4473, and also part of the CA 10 day waiting period procedure. It used to be long guns were not registered, only handguns, but Democrats changed that years ago.

When I run NICS checks, no info on the gun is entered. That goes on the 4473. The NICS Transaction Number (NTN) goes on the 4473, but nothing about the gun on the 4473 goes into the NICS check

Allen was part of The New Wide Awakes which is a fucked up sounding organization.

The original wide awakes were created a few years prior to the civil war (i.e. 1860) and were anti-slavery so they were pro-Republican. Interesting that their mission statement (or at least the Chicago chapter) was to:
quote:
To act as a political police.
  • To do escort duty to all prominent Republican speakers who visit our place to address our citizens.
  • To attend all public meetings in a body and see that order is kept and that the speaker and meeting is not disturbed.
  • To attend the polls and see that justice is done to every legal voter.
  • To conduct themselves in such a manner as to induce all Republicans to join them.
  • To be a body joined together in large numbers to work for the good of the Republican Ticket.

  • The current group of whackos thinks we're heading towards a civil war, but they're definitely not supportive of Republicans, keeping order at public meetings and elections, etc. as they are "agitating for change."
