I swear, I need to go buy some Jennings or Raven Arms junk guns for $150, just so I have something t turn in when one of these great deals comes along.

Easy way for the crims to dump a hot gun. Highly doubtful any ballistics will be done on them. Even then, if they aren't copying ID's... Roll Eyes

This one sounds like it has turned into a welfare program and ‘give-away’ of Gov’t $$.

Shouldn’t be hard to find a gun worth less than $500. It won’t do a bit to stop crime.

Oh well, mostly free $$, I recon the participants will have no problem with that.

I can’t wait for the YouTube vids of guys showing off their new guns paid for when they turned in that old Raven, Jennings, or no-name single shot shotgun.

I wish they would do a $500.00 buy-back here.

I have a Hi-Standard Derringer in .22 WMR that has a cracked frame. It is worth the price of scrap metal, but I would gladly accept $500.00 for it.

At 8:00 this morning the wife and I plus some friends went to the buy back, We took five old single shot 12 gauges and one .25. Paid us with 100 dollar bills. I took 2000 grand and divided 500 with the others. Just got home after visiting my favorite gun shop. Picked up a Sig P-225 and a slightly used Ruger Model AR-556. I'm a happy camper.

As long as you can look in mirror and except what you see. Congrats.

I couldn't and wouldn't do it myself.

And for any of you that think this is great and that bayouman made a great score like he thinks he did. I am not going to waste my time discussing it further. As it is a lost cause.

$500 per firearm
$500 max per resident

6 guns x self, wife, 4 friends = $3000
6 guns x self, wife, 3 friends = you need more friends.

How much is 2000 grand in Louisiana?

Its Bayou-math and I bet the wife took $500 for herself.

Regardless, nice work hoodwinking the Leftists. Should have some money left over as well.

ORC, I’m genuinely confused. A liberal, gun grabbing mayor suggests a scheme that goes against our 2nd Amendment rights.

One of our members rightly realizes the sheer idiocy of this proposal, and proceeds to make a mockery of it.

Is your displeasure because this was paid with taxpayer funds?

Was it funded through taxpayer money? If so, I might have an issue with that. Otherwise, I can't see what the problem is.

I'll bet that the money did not come from the mayor's personal funds.

No, but they are many times funded my non-government organizations or anti-gun groups, or money is raised separate from the taxpayers.

I saw mostly crap guns at the buy back, one decent looking lever action rifle, probably 30-30.
The announcement stated the funds were provided by some foundation, "Wisner Foundation".

I support others having a different viewpoint on this even if we disagree. Everyone I talked to this morning was there for the same reason as I, to get rid of trash and deplete the gun grabbers funds.

Then I am only saddened you did not get $20,000 instead of $2,000

The left’s strategy is to overwhelm our institutions, and bleed them dry. We should do the same, and worse, to theirs.

That's what I assumed. Let them piss away their money so that good, law-abiding gun owners can refresh their stock.
