While visiting one of my imaginary friends I met here on the fouroom, I had the opportunity to have some coffee at the River Rock Roasters Coffee Shop in LaVerkin, Utah, just South of Zion.

I've thanked God they deliver ever since. Their Sumatra is amazing (whole bean) and I'm giving this blended stuff a try since proceeds go to a good cause (employee with breast CA).

Anyhow, give them a try and you can't go wrong with any of the many coffees that are roasted to order.

We're kind of picky. A blend of whole bean dark roast, and a city roast. For a treat, we mix on some criobru ground cacao.

I had a bag of this from Hawaii many years ago, I don't remember if it was the original, or gold roast.

I am a coffee snob in that I only like one brand, but also very cost conscious!

I have a Keurig mini that I use daily, and the only thing I like in it is Folgers Classic (medium roast) or Black Silk (dark roast). Anything else I've tried just doesn't cut it! I've even thrown away a whole box of K-Cups of another brand because I didn't care for the taste, or it didn't brew up strong enough!

Part of our distribution business is we distribute both the Caribou and Peets brands of coffee. Both excellent coffees. We have probably between the two brands a half dozen pallets in our warehouse at any given time. The wife does most of the distributing to all the local stores as I'm retired but I've been back in the biz as she is recovering from a knee replacement.

I always get a chuckle when I'm working in the coffee aisle and shoppers always comment when they come down the aisle how good the coffee smells. This is because of the bean hoppers with the grinders in the aisle. Cameron's and another brand have these. As they are grinding the beans I comment the reason they are smelling the coffee from those bean hoppers is because it's been going stale the minute they fill those things. Vacuum sealed bag coffee is always much fresher. I have converted more than a few people over to our bag coffee with that comment. I can walk into our warehouse full of coffee and hardly get a whiff of coffee. It's staying fresh.

I have been enjoying some German coffee brands lately. Tchibo Feine Milde has been a recent fave.

1. Peet’s Major Dickason blend. Have a monthly subscription. If you have an AMEX card, they frequently run cash back or discount code offers.
2. Anything Sumatra.

Buy whole beans, already roasted, and grind as needed.

I used to travel for short periods to Puerto Rico (with a former employer, from the mainland USA) and Jayuya PR was the location of one of their mfg plants on the main island. There is a local brand of coffee thereabouts which is unmatched in my book, right up there with Blue Mtn from Jamaica. At that time it was reputed locally that the Pope in Rome also was one of their more esteemed customers(not the current commie) for what that's worth. Regardless, I drank gallons of it and carried many a suitcase packed full of freshly roasted beans back to the states. It is an incredible brew. An interesting contrast for me was that in the big city San Juan supermarkets the old standby pre-ground canned US brands(e.g., Maxwell House) were the local big sellers. Here is one seller although an online search will turn up others. Surprisingly Tres Picachos is not prohibitively expensive when compared to Blue Mtn and many other varieties.

And if you are ever fortunate enough to be in that area one of the most splendid places to stay is in the local Parador which is a restored hacienda/coffee plantation. When I stayed there it had no window screens as they were unneeded(seemingly no insects at that altitude) and humming birds used to fly in the windows and into the main dining area. What a delight.

I used to drink Peet's Major Dickason and switched to Peet's Brazil. The Brazil is a medium roast and has a nice, smooth, natural nutty flavor.

I got hooked on Monster Zero Sugar energy drinks and Loaded Teas, but I've got to cut some weight, so I'm trying to cycle off this garbage and go back to just black coffee.

I drink Folgers only for convenience and cost, but I've got to have something more once this container is empty. I can't do it anymore.

I don't mean to derail the thread, but what water to coffee ratio do you guys use? I'm using 1 scoop per 2 cups in my Ninja coffee maker.

I've been drinking coffee since I was 2 and my pediatrician told my mother it would help the wheeze from my asthma.

I drink pretty much nothing other than Folgers Classic made in my 35+ year old Krups drip coffee maker. If I'm feeling fancy (or the power is out), I break out the Chemex. I like my coffee on the strong side.

I have pretty much given up drinking coffee at restaurants other than nicer places after dinner . Because most restaurant coffee is absolute crap.

True, but try a smaller local restaurant.

There's a local diner near me that sources their coffee beans fresh from a local roaster, and grinds them before each pot. It's the best restaurant coffee I've ever had.

That is true most of the time. The Pancake House chain of restaurants has good coffee. Can buy the bags of it to take home too.

I live in BFE. We have zero chain restaurants outside of the fast food places. all locally owned, typical small town places. To a one, they all have crappy, watered down, burned coffee or worst of all, a couple of our supposed "nicer" places have this crap made with "coffee concentrate" that makes Dollar store kcups seem tasty

Kona and Kauai coffees are my favorite. Daily is medium roast from Costco, coffee grounds. My Hawaiian coffee is stored, beans, and I break it out on weekends and special occasions.

My favorite is Vienna Roast. There was until about a year ago an Austrian Konditorei in the town of Davis, CA where we used to live. When visiting we always went there to breakfast with friends. I have eaten many excellent French-style croissants, but this Konditorei chef’s apple croissants were two orders of magnitude better in every way than the best French croissants.
Unfortunately he retired and couldn’t find a replacement so closed the Konditorei.

They served their own Vienna roast, which I found perfect with their pastries. Since then I’ve found an excellent Vienna roast from a local San Diego roaster. Just got in two pounds for the Christmas week. My Moccamaster will get used almost constantly.

If I’m looking for a dark roast, Jamaican Blue Mountain. I used to splurge for unblended Kona, when I wanted a light roast, but it got hard to find. I have since used Costa Rican light blend, as it is almost as good, available and much less expensive. I always buy whole beans and grind them just before use. Drip or espresso machine, depending on what I’m making.
