If SBRs and Silencers are removed from the NFA… Login/Join

If SBRs, SBSes and Silencers are removed from the NFA, fully removed, not just having the tax zeroed out, what are you going hot wild on?

Specifically, what would you buy in the absence of NFA restrictions that you wouldn’t buy with registration & a $200 stamp? Indicate if you currently own NFA or not. Also, per the current Senate wording, FA will not be removed, so that’s not an option.

Personally, I already have several SBRs in 9mm & 556, and a few cans, so I’m good there. But, I may consider a SBS. I dunno, with the limited capacity they never really appealed to me. If the NFA goes away for these, I may saw off a 20 ga SxS or maybe get one of those new Mossberg 990s.

What say you?

I’ll probably pick up a Stribog SBR with a silencer or maybe even an MP5.

Wow, a few things that I want to do is build a XM177E1 with a modulator ( which the ATF deams a silencer).

I would like to have a suppressor for a few calibers that I have.

I would like to have a .45 ACP, and 9X19mm can. A quality .22 caliber can, that can do .22LR, 5.7x28mm

I would like to have a 5.56X45mm can. A .338 caliber can. I already have a. 30 caliber can, but I would like to have another one.

I would like a 9X19mm, .40S&W, .45 ACP SBR AR15 9f course using GLOCK magazines.

I would love a SBS a Remington 870 as short as you can get, and have a good capacity.

And, who could forget to AOW! I would love to have a AOW shotty! For no other reason than to piss off and gun grabbers! But I can see where it could be useful.

Oh God my wallet is going to be soooooo sad!

Silencers are what the NFA calls them, so if the bill removes “suppressors” from the NFA, it doesn’t do us much good.

Once they become non-NFA, then “silencer” no longer is the correct terminology now, is it? Razz

And why is "silencer" not correct terminology?

If silencers are removed from the NFA, does that mean you can make your own oil filter silencers without breaking the law? That would be cheap and fun to do occasionally when you just want to spend a day outdoors shooting at whatever targets you set up.

I’ll get a couple of silencers for my rifles. None of my handguns are threaded. I don’t know if it’s worth it for a 9mm.

Silence defined: complete absence of sound
A silencer, by definition, should be able to completely mute a gunshot sound. But it doesn’t.

A suppressor reduces the loudness of a gunshot but does not completely eliminate it. If it did, it would be called a silencer.

Or, just use “can” and call it a day. Big Grin

If they’re removed from the NFA, would the prices stay the same, increase because of an new and open demand, or in the off chance, is there a possibility that they would decrease in price?

Here, behind the iron curtain, Im sure on the State level, they would still be verboten. Mad

But, in the possibility that I could get some toys-
I already have an AR pistol, maybe another AR build that’s SBR. Possibly in .308 / 7.62

Suppressors! Suppressors! Suppressors! And a few Suppressors!
I mean, with an SBR in 5.56 and in .308, there’s a whole lotta BARK! I think it’s only polite to quiet things down.

With ammo prices these days, no real want for full auto.

That short barrel Browning 12Ga from Lone Wolf McQuade wouldn’t be a half bad shotty to have!

I'd like a user-serviceable 9mm can that is also rated for subsonic .300 Blk. Heck, if I don't have to deal with tax stamps I'd probably just buy one for each. Then I'd build SBRs in both of those calibers.

I might get a can for my .223 rifles, too, just to make them a little quieter. I doubt I'd mess with an SBR in that caliber, though. If I do it won't be much shorter than 14".

Cans are easy to make. Everybody with a machine shop will be doing so. Its likely that supply will soon exceed demand and will drive prices down. Threaded barrels are not so easy to make, and could be in short supply if demand significantly exceeds supply. Get yours now.

You seen the JK VERSAX 12? I kinda want a 12 gauge suppressor, myself.
