Perhaps the hottest political issue in Arlington County right now is the lack of affordable housing. Some will see this as him doing a favor by making room for urban renewal. When houses like this in Bluemont routinely sell in the $1.2 - $2 million range, and are mostly tear-downs at that price, I halfway see the point. It will undoubtedly be replaced by a 6-unit condo of about the same size (the argument currently is whether zoning should allow 6-units or 8-units per 1/4 acre lot).

Yep. My first reaction, as well.

Definitely odd. When I was a news camera guy people would have some unexpected reactions when they had just seen something wild happen. Could just be excitement/adrenaline. Quite possibly the craziest thing that guys ever seen.
