Why would this not be Robbery? Under North Carolina law, robbery is defined using the common law definition which originated centuries ago. This definition states that robbery is: The taking of the property of another with the intent to permanently deprive that person of it with the use of force or the fear of force. But although I haven’t read this thread in detail, based on a few posts here I guess that parts of that area are no-laws zones where they have lawyers who are capable of getting people off for any crimes and the police will be reprimanded for arresting people who commit them in their presence. At what point is she arrested for impeding free speech? That's the clickbait. She was arrested for stealing not for impeding free speech. I'm assuming the title of the video was changed because it now says "UNC Student Arrested, Charged After Attack" which is still clickbait since no attack happens. It's a great video. To often this behavior goes unchecked and emboldens these people to continue because they think they'll keep getting a free pass. | |||

That officer (who did a very good job) had to speak to that ADULT PERSON as if she were a four year old. Seriously, the only difference is the officer used the word "property" instead of "stuff". There's no doubt she'll wear this as a badge of honor and be treated as a returning hero by her friends. Likely a soft humanities major or, studying pre-law to become a social justice/enviro lawyer. She'll get a sympathetic DA to either reduce charge or, request to throw them out. Judge will likely see this as her first offense, and like many other cases we've seen, be lenient and let her off with a fine. She'll write about her baptism in fire, confronting the bigots and the system that protects them. She'll be a speaker at independent book stores and college groups, extolling the virtues of standing-up to tyranny, she's now aligned herself to many of the celebrities that get arrested at high-profile protest locations for their pet-interest.  | |||

Something tells me that being detained, then arrested, perp walked and booked with all the trimmings is not something she will soon forget. Judging that book by the cover I would bet it was truly traumatic for her. Hopefully they gave her a "safe place" to recover as well. That would truly be the icing on the cake. | |||
