Even if the charges are dismissed she was still arrested and charged with a crime.

So if she ever decides to apply for a State, county or federal job or one that she needs a security clearance for she will have to list this.

Also, she will have to explain why she was arrested.

I used to love to do background investigations on individuals like this. They always thought they were so smooth and would never say anything about an incident like this. Fast forward a few months and I would be detailed to conduct an in depth investigation regarding the incident.

No only would you get a letter designation for being arrested but you would also get one for deception, and or lying.

Actually she won't have a record. The charges will be dismissed and all records will be expunged, its SOP for UNC Students in CHapel Hill

Even if what baby cakes says is true....she still had the unpleasant experience of being paraded through the campus in cuffs....she won’t forget that any time soon

My name is not Baby cakes. And I know you own the forum but that does not mean you can treat people like dirt.

You are not here, you have no idea what you are talking about and I'm sure you will take your usual low road and ban me and if that's the way you have to act then have at it.
Fair enough. In substance, my remarks are accurate. You seem to be trying to discouraging people from getting satisfaction while witnessing something which happens all too rarely.

That aside though, you have my apology for being so flippant.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, just telling it like it is in Chapel Hill. I would not doubt if the police officer does not get reprimanded for having the gall to arrest her in the first place.

People who don't live there will never know just how screwed up Chapel Hill is. San Francisco is a conservative bastion compared to that place.

People have speculated that Chapel Hill is the actual entrance to hell.

I fear your hope is in vain. If her parents understood the need for instilling those values in their offspring they would have done so long ago, thus ensuring their little SJW wouldn't go about infringing on the property rights of others.

Your syntax is a bit tortured, but it seems you're trying to suggest you believe it likely the police officer will receive a reprimand for enforcing the law.

It looked to me like he received dispensation from dispatch to effect the arrest. (That he had to do that, in the first place, says a lot.)

Yup, under S.C. law, it would appear that she is guilty of robbery:

That's what I get for reading too fast.

quote:
§ 14-72. Larceny of property; receiving stolen goods or possessing stolen goods.

(a) Larceny of goods of the value of more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) is a Class H felony. The receiving or possessing of stolen goods of the value of more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) while knowing or having reasonable grounds to believe that the goods are stolen is a Class H felony. Larceny as provided in subsection (b) of this section is a Class H felony. Receiving or possession of stolen goods as provided in subsection (c) of this section is a Class H felony. Except as provided in subsections (b) and (c) of this section, larceny of property, or the receiving or possession of stolen goods knowing or having reasonable grounds to believe them to be stolen, where the value of the property or goods is not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), is a Class 1 misdemeanor

Oddly, North Carolina does not have a statutory definition for larceny.

I'm no legal expert but we seem to be at a legal crossroads here.

Bottom line she took property that didn't belong to her. The video shows that she forcibly took it by removing it from the hands of the owner. I'm not sure how the law in N.C. views it but I see that as different than picking something up that was unattended.

ANYHOW... if the court finds her not guilty, when it is clearly recorded on video, they set a precedent that it is ok to forcibly take property from someone if you disagree with them. Therefore if a conservative were to do the same to a liberal, they should expect equal treatment under the law.

That seems like a dangerous road to go down legally.

I love the look on her face as the reality of her righteousness meets life where there are rules and order.

I have friends down there that are afraid to voice any conservative ideas for fear of retribution against their careers and reputation. On most college campuses, Duke, Wake Forest, UNC, free speech is long dead.

It is good to see that as long as the law is enforced you can avoid the 'shithole' that Seattle, SanFran et al. have become.

I understand that you're saying that there will be no consequences for this little SJW. But, again, 'something' has happened already. You should ask the student how she feels about this video being passed around the internet. I'll wager that she wouldn't say that this is nothing. I'll wager that this has left a lasting impression on her.

And, for the record, you have to really try to get banned in this forum. I cut slack to members all the time. It is simply not accurate to say that I ban members for slight offenses. It's simply not true. There are active members of this forum who know that the axe could have fallen on them- for actual offenses- yet did not. So, just as I am not there with you, you are not here with me.

You may not care for my style, but ultimately, I am fair.

They think their "cause" puts them above obeying the law.

It was lovely seeing her transition from "righteous action" to the reality of getting arrested.

You can pin it down almost to the second in the video when she realized she had screwed up and was going to be arrested.

How many signs do you think she'll steal now? Just a guess, but I'm gonna go with zero.

This gives her friends and associates something to ponder, too, no matter how righteous they feel.

"Is there something else we can do?"

"No I can't unarrest you"

That was awesome. But there were several parts where she is starting to understand the gravity of the situation.

Would it be wrong of me to say I watched it a couple of times and smiled more, the more I watched it. Then I smiled more thinking about her watching it. Big Grin

I don't care if she is prosecuted or not. But, according to those of you in the know, she won't be. I just hope she has to go through the humiliation of a strip search if nothing else.

Yeah, a cavity search would be awesome. I know it won't happen but I can dream. I'm with Skins in that I've watched the video a couple of times and it gets better each time.

Sort of like the feeling when you see the asshole get pulled over right in front of you who was driving in HOV lanes or passing on the shoulders. So damn gratifying to see it. Most of the time people get away with this bullshit, this time she didn't. Arrested and embarrassed on the internet, I love it.
