Lemon chess is my favorite pie, but I will happily eat cherry.

A winning cherry pie will use sour cherries. An x amount of sugar will offset the sourness to give you a perfect pie.

Sweet cherries are more common and while you can use less sugar, it's not the same as sour cherries.

Sour cherries are not as prevalent as sweet cherries and are high in demand. And they often seem to suffer from weather for the last many years.

So, the Costco cherry pie, is it any good or just ok? I've bought the manhole cover size apple pie from Sam's Club before and it's just ok.

Coincidentally, there's a recipe in this morning's Epoch Times for cherry pie. I'll link it, but you may have to be a member to read. I can copy/paste, but it's pretty long. I will if someone wants it.

Cherry season is beginning in Michigan; pies should be available shortly.

In the pie food group, cherry pie is not really on my list of favorites, in fact my two favorites are non-fruit pies- buttermilk pie and pecan pie are at the top. But as far as fruit pies I love banana cream, apple, strawberry, key lime, lemon custard. I'll eat cherry pie and like it, but I'd much rather have the others.

I found this Costco 12 inch cherry pie to be a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

I liked the crust a lot , and I hardly like most crust's.

Costco has the crust market cornered, its good on their pumpkin and very good on their apple pies as well, i.m.o.

Lots of cherries in the filling not just thick filling goo.

I gave half of it away, and it took me five days to eat the rest.
I'd recommended it. And will purchase it again.

( I did find one cherry pit in it )

Apple is the goat for me. My wife makes an amazing salted caramel, apple, pecan pie. I call it birthday pie, since that's about the only time she'll take the time/effort to make it.

This scares the hell out of me...especially as I get older and teeth become more brittle. Whenever I eat an olive, I'm always careful to bite down slowly. Now I'll have to remember that when eating a piece of cherry pie.

You can say the same thing about fish and other foods but it does not deter me. There is something about the tartness of cherries along with sweetness. Cherries right off the tree are much better than anything at the store (as is all fruits), but I no longer have access to cherry trees.

I do recall as a kid visiting a church member and his cherry tree was massive and overflowing with cherries. My brothers and I ate until we could not eat anymore. Cherry pie with home made whip cream - sounds pretty good.

Cherry Pie and Strawberry Rhubarb pie are my two favorites. Also a fan of a good coconut cream/custard pie. Dessert is either one of those pies or a good moist chocolate cake. Every other dessert can be turned down if the above aren't on the menu.

I have no natural resistance to peach pie, a well presented cherry pie is very good. I consider the cherry, apple, pumpkin, blackberry, and blueberry as equals.

A good Shoo Fly pie (wet bottom) warn with a side of homemade vanilla ice cream.

Thanksgiving dinner without mincemeat pie sucks.

I'd enjoy it from time to time, but probably never make on on purpose. The combo of the cherries shape/size and the gel they are in is just a little weird to me. And I LOVE strawberry pie, so it's not just the fruit in gel issue.

However if I saw your Costco box, I'd politely decline. Chances of me enjoying that are even less than a homemade one...... Razz

As far as fruit pies go, peach is my favorite followed by pear. Cherry is at the bottom of the list. I would never refuse it, though, especially if I'm at someone's house.
