Between Barrett and Lagoa - which one will have the wider kill zone when liberal heads explode?

There are already hit pieces out on Barrett- surely will make feminists heads explode if nominated.

Lagoa checks all the boxes. If she were confirmed by a bi-partisan majority - what would the left do?

I assume Trump knows all this and loves to Troll the Dems - I bet he picks Barrett just to have a split vote and be able to watch the hysteria.

It appears the Left is going to cause as much trouble as possible, regardless. I trust our President to choose the right person for the job, and probably the right person to tweak the Lefties into highlighting how unreasonable they are. I wouldn’t presume to guess, but I’ll be thoroughly stocked on popcorn prior to Saturday. Big Grin

Cant say I have factored in her babe-ness. She could look like ten miles of bad road, for all I care. I just want a well qualified jurist who knows and respects the Constitution and will uphold it.

Irony is ironic. Ginsberg wasn’t ever pretty, even before electricity. She gets replaced by a hot babe that swears allegiance to the Constitution, not swears at it.

Do we know for sure between Barrett and Lagoa who is the staunchest 2A supporter? Are either one a NRA member? This appointment is huge for us gun owners.

While both will bring a very contentious hearing and vote, I think ACB would be the most conservative of the two. Both will be difficult to approve, Lagoa did get approved earlier by a wide margin.

Whoever is nominated, I (and I'm sure others) hope they stay well right.

The only thing I have seen are a few cases Barrett was involved with, one of them more of a 4th Amendment case, but it seems she rules on the side of the 2A.

Here is a link to a PDF copy of the Judiciary Committee questionnaire to Lagoa when she was nominated to the 11th Circuit last year. It is a long doc and I skimmed thru it, did not see any 2A related cases.

Barrett has a longer record to go off of deciding federal cases which is why I said earlier that she is the more proven originalist. I have more confidence in Barrett as a result.

Having said that, I think either would make a great justice

CNN is now reporting that Amy Coney Barrett will be the nominee and Erick Erickson is confirming this based on his discussions with political insiders.

According to Erick’s blast:

“Multiple senators tell me the Senate Republicans have made clear to the White House that there are at least 51 votes for Barrett. Several have explained to the White House that Barrett will play well in the midwest in areas the President needs to improve. I’m told Mitch McConnell himself made the case for Barrett. Evangelicals have expressed to the White House that Barrett is their favorite.”

Sources: Trump intends to choose Amy Coney Barrett for Supreme Court

By Jamie Gangel and Pamela Brown, CNN

Updated 4:01 PM ET, Fri September 25, 2020

(CNN)—President Donald Trump intends to choose Amy Coney Barrett to be the new Supreme Court justice, according to multiple senior Republican sources with knowledge of the process.

In conversations with some senior Republican allies on the Hill, the White House is indicating that Barrett is the intended nominee, multiple sources said.

All sources cautioned that until it is announced by the President, there is always the possibility that Trump makes a last-minute change but the expectation is Barrett is the choice. He is scheduled to make the announcement on Saturday afternoon.

Barrett has been the leading choice throughout the week, since Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died. She is the only potential nominee known to have met with the President in person, according to two of the sources. One source said Trump was familiar with Barrett already and he met with her since she was a top contender the last time there was a Supreme Court vacancy, when the President chose Justice Brett Kavanaugh instead.

Barrett was seen at her South Bend, Indiana, home on Friday. It was not clear if Barrett had been told she is the choice. Often that is done as late as possible to maintain secrecy around the announcement.

"The machinery is in motion," one of the sources said. In previous nomination announcements, the White House had multiple rollouts planned in case the President made a last-minute decision to switch to another candidate. But one source said it would be surprising if there were a change since allies are already being told.

The White House declined to comment.

"She was the plan all along. She's the most distinguished and qualified by traditional measures. She has the strongest support among the legal conservatives who have dedicated their lives to the court. She will contribute most to the court's jurisprudence in the years and decades to come," according to a former senior administration official familiar with the process.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made clear in conversations with Trump and White House counsel Pat Cipollone that the Senate GOP conference would be comfortable with Barrett, two people with knowledge of the conversations told CNN earlier this week. Sen. Todd Young, who hails from Barrett's home state of Indiana and leads the Senate Republican campaign arm, has also been an advocate, the people said.

The President indicated he has spoken to multiple candidates, but the White House has not been willing to say if other conversations were in person.

Barrett was at the White House on Monday and Tuesday of this week. She impressed the President and others during the initial meetings, two sources told CNN earlier this week.
