I going to go with Barbara Lagoa. At 52, she would be the youngest judge on the bench. That should be good for at least 25, maybe 30 years. I really don't think Trump has to worry about Florida, but she would all but guarantee that state.

Besides, I kind of like having another "Wise Latino woman" in the SC. Wink

Trump needs Cruz in the Senate, both for this confirmation vote and because that vacuous fuck Beto nearly won in Texas last election.

The problem with Lagoa is she doesn't have much a record. She seems legit, but i have more confidence in how Barrett will decide cases.

Lagoa was an appeals court judge in Florida before she came to the Federal bench; her "wake" there is fairly wide, and although IANAL, encouraging.

If these are the top contenders on PDJT's short list, I think we're in good shape regardless.

To add:
Amy Barrett clerked for Scalia. At least one congressman who knows her referred to her as a “female Scalia”. I’m good with that.

Lagoa. I think he'll pick her and I prefer her. I'm ashamed that I have to play the Dem's identity game, but fight fire with fire. Lagoa is the strategic choice and, it seems, a safe conservative. As has been said before, she knows the evil we face.

Who's the next likely Justice that will be replaced?

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. I will be happy with Lagoa or Barrett. This is historic and I am really enjoying it. Heads are going to explode.

I think for “optics” Lagoa might be the more tactical choice. Definitely plays into identity politics and could pull more votes than Barrett at this point.

She underwent the confirmation process just last year and was voted 80-15 vs. Barrett’s 55-43 vote. As much as the left want to make Roe v Wade an issue, I think it would be less a issue with Lagoa than it would be with Barrett. Again, more palatable to the undecideds and potentially helpful in swing votes.

DJT is said to have met with Barrett over the weekend, it could be to tell her to get ready, or it could be to give her the heads up she is, once again, not going to be the pick but assure her that her time will come.

No doubt Amy’s time will come. With DJT being re-elected I imagine there would a minimum of one more appointment and likely two more appointments in his second term. Being responsible for 5-6 appointments would be a phenomenal feat and make an impact lasting for decades.

The only problem I have is waiting for Saturday to hear the choice!

Assuming age is the driving factor: Breyer is 82, Thomas is 72, and Alito is 70.

It doesn't matter that much. Last time the Democrats falsely accused a man of sexual assault. This time, with a woman, they will go with racism. If it's Amy Comey Barret, they're going to find some black person that worked around her to say what a vicious racist she is.

Honestly, if McConnell has brains, he'll just take the nominee to a floor vote the same day she's nominated and just not allow the Democrats to pull their shit.

Who the hell cares if the nominee is confirmed by 1 vote or 30? Or if one is more palatable than the other to the stinking left? I want the most conservative, originalist, and reliable judge confirmed now. And that's ACB.

Lagoa, based on experience and better confirmation vote. 14 years on the bench vs Barrett's three years. I rather have someone with more judicial experience than academic experience. Not only that she scores higher on the identity politics index than Barrett does.

Lagoa has been on the federal bench since only 2019.

Barrett was supposedly on the short list when Kavanaugh was submitted.

Initially, I thought Barbara Lagoa was more likely to be the pick, but now I'm leaning toward Amy Coney Barrett.
Either would be fine.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

The fact that Lagoa was confirmed with 80 votes worries me.

But I understand the tactical aspect of picking her.
