Lagoa has been on the federal bench since only 2019.

I guess what I've read about her is wrong.

From what I've read, she's been a judge for 14 years and Barrett has only been a judge for three years.

Do you have additional info?

I said federal bench. In fact, she's been a federal judge for less than a year.

Well I mentioned 14 years on bench vs majority of career as a teacher, so I don't know why you replied on experience on Federal bench when I was commenting on experience only, not place of experience.

Because there's a bit of a difference between writing opinions on a federal level compared to simply a state level.

I'm elated at having two good conservatives, at a minimum being considered, one of which will be appointed...

Personally I trust people who do vs people who teach. I've not been happy neith what academia has been producing recently.

I'm more interested in how a person's Judicial philosophy is applied in relation to the US Constitution, and we have more information in that regard with ACB I believe.

And what is a Supreme Court Justice if not an extension of Academia, more specifically Constitutional Law?

Look what extension of academia has got us in the form of Kagan.

I would love to have Cruz but Amy Coney Barrett makes the most sense at this time.

This was interesting. They start talking about potential picks at the 10:00 mark and his comments specifically about Barrett at 11:35 and why he doesnt like her are very interesting and, to me, compelling.

Well, you made me go to YT to see what you were talking about. I have no idea who they were so I did not listen. I hate wasting my time on videos.

Even given that fact, I think it may make it easier to confirm her since she had a easy confirmation for that seat. That would seem to make it easier to go straight to a vote without hearings and giving the commies a chance to trash her with lies and made up allegations. I would not object to either her or Barret being nominated.

I would usually agree with that. But Barnes seems to know what he's talking about. Check in where Lab-Kid suggests and listen to him for a bit. I found myself listening longer than I would have expected.

At this point, there is nothing the Democrats can do. They can't stop it. And they know it.

Why, after nearly 4 years of the left throwing a constant temper tantrum any of you think any nomination will be "easy" is beyond me. Also, I don't want easy.

We need this conflict to remind everyone of us how important it is to vote in the right Senators, and to be reminded to stay active in our civic duties.

Results (211 votes counted so far):
Who do you think will be Trumps Nominee for SCOTUS
143 (68%) Amy Coney Barrett
52 (25%) Barbara Lagoa

Interesting...
Most here think it will be Amy Coney Barrett.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Would Gingrich be too old? (I admit, I’m going for IQ/entertainment value, as much as anything...)

I'm afraid Gingrich would be the opposite of Justice Thomas. He would ask questions of everyone who came to the bench. I can see the eye-rolling now. Big Grin
