I'd rather see Obama and crew tried and convicted, and maybe the gov could coordinate with SpaceX to land a couple of fancy rockets on Rocket Boys favorite party spot. That would be all the messages I need to send.

What's the point of the parade? The world already knows we have the best military so I don't see the point. It almost sounds Pajama Boy like or third world dictatoresque to show that it dick is bigger than everyone else's. Does Trump want this for video purposes to help him with reelection? If so I'm sure the soldiers don't want to be trotted out as props. I just don't see the win on any level by having this big parade and I'm as flag waving as anyone around.

Goose stepping has never been a US military marching style. I wonder if these current troops could actually march, in step, in line. Except for boot camp, when is it ever done? My impression is that a great deal of the formalities of military life have been dispensed with. I still have my sword, from >50 years ago, worn once at a change of command. I wonder how many officers own a sword, or could find one to borrow? We spent some time at OCS learning the fine point of calling on each other, “at home,” leaving cards in the foyer. Nobody ever did any of that I ever heard of. Is saluting still required, or even suggested? A parade needs a purpose, an occasion. Has there been a massive parade, other than inaugurals, since the end of WWII? When Desert Storm was so delightfully successful so quickly, it was said the success was due to assigning each ally the role they did best. The French supplied the food, the Americans were in charge of the air war, and the Brits handled the Victory Parade. Maybe we can subcontract it out to those guys. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

We still march in formation for change of command ceremonies at BN and above levels as part of pass and review. Social calling isn't part of OCS anymore, the drums and helmet liners had been eliminated, but they may have come back, same with the ascots. I don't know any officer that purchased a sword. The Honor Grad at OCS got one, but that's it. The "Bus Driver Hat" and Sword might be optional items up to a certain rank. Majors usually have mess dress, CPTs don't. They are actually talking about bringing back "Pinks and Greens" SGM Daley is leading that charge. Yes, we still salute while outdoors. They would probably do a weeks worth of rehearsals until we got it right. That's what I've seen for division change of commands. I've seen an ASCC Commander change out, but it was a very small ceremony in Germany.

I believe a 100th anniversary of WWI rememberance ceremony complete with parade celebrating our military would be appropriate. The haters are going to hate no mater the day or occasion. The rest of us can show respect. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

I have a feeling this is him jingling his keys. It gets his opponents all worked up, frothing at the mouth, just full on sperging out, meanwhile he's over here getting Real Shit done. In any case it's gonna be real fun watching the Left lose their minds, no matter what happens. "Trump wants a military parade!? That's literally what Hitler did!!!! TRUMP IS A NAZIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" "Trump has decided not to follow through with his military parade!? He hates the troops!!!! REEEEEEEEEEEE!" "Trump had soup instead of salad as his appetizer!? He's literally attacking persons of color that work in the fields! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" It's fun to watch.

The libs still take him literally, but not seriously, while the supporters take him seriously, but not literally. The libs should have figured it out by now. Virtually every country in the world with professional militaries hold ceremonial and celebratory parades. Including the U.S. He is the Commander in Chief. If he wants a parade to celebrate the military he should have one, I would enjoy standing proud to salute the Colors as they pass. Screw the screaming handwringers. Let's show our patriotism and have the parade! It's been a long time since we as a country did anything patriotic, I think it would be a good idea. As far as saving money or wasting money the same amount is going to be spent regardless. GGF

With respect...not the point. Of course it would FEEL good, but it won't accomplish a thing beyond making people that already love this country feel good for a couple of hours. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

So what if it costs a few bucks? I guess it would be smarter to instead give millions of dollars to some middle east country that hates our guts. Go for it! Oh, I also like Para's suggestion of adding some floats!!! .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.
