A more succinct version of my point.

Huge waste of time and money and would provide endless fodder for the media to fuel a "Trump as Tinpot Dictator" meme.

Bad idea IMHO.

I'd rather see the time, effort, and money spent on defeating ISIS and the Taliban while avoiding the evil empire look of old time Soviet May Day parades and the evilish caricature look of little Kim's recent parades.

That said, I have to thank signewt for this wonderful imagery. I laughed out loud.

Just my bitter, pessimistic nature showing through I'm sure, but yeah. I see the media having a field day with this, and the left jumping all over the "Trump is a Dictator" angle. Frown

I'm all for it. I would love to see it in person. At least our tax dollars would serve a purpose, honoring our men and women in uniform.

Fully concur.

While this would be the only parade I'd ever want to attend, it's just misallocated resources and would just be one more leftist talking point. More drama we don't need.

Let our military do their work on foreign soil and come home to respect and, let's say, a functional VA.

Yup...put the money the gov't would spend on this fanfare back into the VA system.

I don't think we need a parade in this country to convince anyone, foreign or domestic, that we are armed to the teeth with the latest in technology and could really kick the ever-loving crap outta anyone that crosses our path the wrong way. I agree with everyone who thinks this would just be more cannon fodder for the Fake News.

While I think it would be AWESOME to attend. It would be a giant waste of money; giant pain in the ass for our military; no training value; and be used by the media to compare Trump to Lil Kim.

I'll pass.

This would be a huge waste of time and money, Soldier's hate dog and pony shows.

Murphy's law should be followed here: "Inspection ready troops aren't combat ready, combat ready troops aren't inspection ready."

Maybe if Murphy did his prescribed precombat checks/precombat inspections (PCC/PCIs) everything wouldn't go wrong Smile

If it happens I will take off work and get there early. I will also be like a kid in a candy shop that doubles as an exotic car dealership.

Sincerely

After 20yrs active duty, I can confirm that any activity the requires dress up for dog and pony time is in the top 5 hated things to do.

On the other hand, I'd like to volunteer to be on the planning committee. If we are gonna do this let's not waste good time and money. We need to give the American people the best possible opportunity to attend, combine it with real world training, and project power all at the same time.

I give you my suggestion for the parade route........

I'm close enough to DC I'd probably end up in the parade. I'm not disputing it'll be awe-inspiring...I can just already see some headlines.

We'll see how it goes if it happens I suppose.

I honestly don't think anyone is necessarily "naysaying" the idea. Save for maybe one or two lib-tards that found their way to this board, I think we all get a lump in our throats at the very sight of this nation's flag, it's soldiers, and upon hearing The Star Spangled Banner. I also believe our military is celebrated today on a daily basis more than any time in our history (save for perhaps the end of WWII).

Having said that, I believe open communication about the idea is necessary to explore the pros and cons. Dialogue is the fundamental avenue to great achievement and I believe that's what's going on right here. I think we ALL would love to see a parade that "sticks it up the ass" of every lib-tard and shithole country in this world, but there's a point where you have to stop, take a breath, and review how pragmatic an idea is.

JMHO on the subject at hand. I don't think a small sample size on this board desiring to do something better with the money FOR THE MILITARY is a reason to question its motives, what's in its hearts, and its patriotism in general.

Anything and everything President Trump does is criticized by the left. Who freaking cares?

And I just love how many of you guys are suddenly worried about the budget.

Keep it tasteful, for example, no exaggerated "goose-stepping" like North Korea's. I think he is smart enough not to do that. The haters are gonna hate no matter what.

There is nothing that I hate more than a dog and pony show that has little to no pay off. This would be a huge logistical nightmare for any units that participate (especially those with mechanized equipment), with less than zero training value.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the burden of this would be put wholly on the units tasked with it.

My sentiments exactly.

Maybe you guys would rather have Obama back. He'd agree with you on that "waste of resources" stuff. You can bet he would. Let's imagine President Hillary Clinton's take on this.

The CIC has issued an order. Let's get to it.
