I get it checked every 6 months. I don't want something to eat me alive from the inside. Good luck to you.

Yeah, pretty much. I still try and watch how much fluid I drink before bed, and still might get up once, but not every hour like I was before the medication. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words. I'm just glad it was caught in time as I'm not one to go to the doctors much. I should thank my wife as she's the one who said....time to see the doctor. I see the local doctor who will be doing the removal at the beginning of next month. Not sure if he will be able to get me in before the holidays. Not really looking forward to the recovery period.....but, I'll get through it. Thanks again!!! My PSA Number has fluctuated over the last two years. In the last 6 months it has gone from 3.5 to 12. I know ejaculation can make it go up and have avoided that prior to my tests. I'm getting tested again next week and if it's still up, I'll get a biopsy. From what I've read, if the PSA increases and stays up, that's a strong indication of PC. There may be a link between increased PSA and stress and my Father died before my last test, so I'm hoping that's the case. ================================================ Ultron: "You're unbearably naive." I agree, the post-op is no big deal.......it is just a change from your regular routine. Us old farts don't do well with change, but when it is called for, we can do it. During the week or so post-op when you have a catheter in place, get a "leg bag" and then you can get dressed and leave the house. The large bag works fine in the house and at night. You will do fine.

My urologist started me on the Kegels prior to surgery. When I explained what they were and how one does them to my wife, she asked if when I'm done, do I walk around with a water bottle and a towel around my neck. When in doubt, mumble

I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and will be praying for a full recovery. My dad went through this a few years ago. I was nauseous for weeks thinking about his health. I took him to all his appointments, it wasn't easy but he's recovered. He opted for the radiation and cyberknife. Best of luck to you! God, Family, Country.

I was diagnosed in December, 2017. I went to the VA for treatment. A friend of a friend went to Moffit, a big cancer treatment facility here in TampaBay. He was a vet and Moffitt told him to consider going to the VA for Prostate Cancer since he was a vet. They said the VA had the most experience with that type of cancer. He did, had radiation and a positive outcome. I was surprised they told him that, he's got good insurance, but .... Anyway, after my diagnosis I met with my urologist who gave me the options, from surgery to radiation and the risks, benefits, etc. I picked radiation as I knew others who had the surgery and were miserable. Pretty quick they were set to start the radiation, but did a scan and found the cancer was already outside the prostate. So they started right away, 45 radiation treatments, no pain, no fuss, no nuttin' and I confess, I was wondering if it was doing anything to help me. But, so far, PSA is undetectable and, hopefully, they've saved me again. The urologist said he was surprised at my choice as most patients just want surgery-"cut that thing out of me!" He said, for me, he thought I'd picked the right choice. Time will tell, but it looks like he was right. Bob

My biopsy on Friday went fine -- it was like being shot with 12 tiny bullets -- I survived. I wanted to make a joke about Turkish prisons but stifled myself in time. 5-7 days to get the results and the prognosis/treatment options. I'm sort of on the same track as Steve in PA (good luck!). Each man's journey (reading here) through this problem seems to be a little different. It strikes me that the results are much better today than even five or 10 years ago. We'll see how this goes. This message has been edited. Last edited by: RoverSig,
