I’m missing whatever was visible in the second clip, but if based on the first I’m correct about where the killer was and using Google Earth, he was about 140 or so yards from Kirk, or just a little farther than the one who tried to kill President Trump.

One thing that is a positive in all of this, is that Mr. Kirk states he is a Christian and he is with the Lord now. While it is a sad thing here on earth, being with Jesus is the best thing we can hope for. I pray for his family and their struggles.

There's no provision for a magazine or a magazine floorplate.

The barrel is super thin, like an air rifle.

You can see the hole in the bottom of the trigger guard, which is designed to allow you to insert a screwdriver to adjust the trigger adjustment screw located above that hole and next to the trigger.

And the front of the stock is Y-shaped, to allow the barrel to hinge downward.

Who walks around with a rifle after someone has been shot? Decoy?

You may be right...that barrel seemed a bit too thin even if it's a .240 or .270 and the stock a bit rudimentary.
Considering Provo is the next town over, I'm going to imagine every LEO in the area & state is being extra vigilant.

His wife and children were the first thing I thought of when I heard he’d been shot. I’m sure his wife knew it could happen and worried but I can’t begin to imagine the pain she’s in right now.

I’ve been reading all over the web in comments sections. I suspect that all the American Left has done is to wake a sleeping army. In general it appears the consensus is that it’s not practical to be polite to and accommodating of the Left. Patience is at an end.
