You're right. Deleted my post.

Plus, as someone implied earlier, it just gives that idiot the satisfaction of getting us riled up.

I didn’t watch a second of trump leaving or the corrupt inauguration. I won’t be watching much news or listening to any speeches. But we can’t give up on this country. We can’t leave it this way for our children. We must fight the good fight. We didn’t give up after Pearl Harbor or 9-11. We rose up and defeated evil. We can do it again. We must do it again.

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Let me see. How can I say this without being political? Even if you are ignorant enough to actually believe the things you are writing, why in the world would you come to this thread in this forum and write this stuff? Man. Hard to imagine

Almost everyone has a relative like that.
Just be glad you don't have to spend the holidays together with him. Smile

I guess I view it a little differently than some here. Such unconsciousness is really beyond the pale and only leaves me scratching my head and wondering about the person emitting it.

Does anyone think I created this thread so that we could discuss politics or give testimonials to Donald Trump?

I don't and I think I understand where you are coming from.

For myself, I have taken to listening to audiobooks on my commute and trying to stay away from all of the angry discord. Typically historical ones. The Stonewall Jackson one that was recommended by someone here on Sigforum was excellent. Plus, it puts it in some kind of perspective. My Great great grandfather took a bullet to the chest during the battle of Goodes Farm, thus ending his Civil War military career and it's put it in perspective to me that todays events are much bigger than me. Followed that with Tolands masterful "No Man's Land" re: WW1, where my grandfather served as a Marine in some Belgium trenches.

I'm not walking away from it, and will try to do what I can though, but barking like a dog at every little noise isn't necessarily helpful either.

I've gone through some recent health issues which I've come to realize were triggered by stress and anxiety. Life, and my job, but I know part of it was from the then coming election. Or at least, it certainly wasn't helping, it was just piling on an already bad situation. I'm at the point where seeing it, hearing about it or reading about it physically effects me. An immediate physical reaction. As such one of the steps I'm taking to remedy the problem is avoiding politics at all cost. Not real easy when it's all anyone around you wants to talk about. I'm sticking my head in the sand, because the only thing I can do about what's happening is worry. And that helps no one. Me it's actually hurting.

I think some people like feeling angry. I accuse my father of that. We'll go away for the weekend to the family cabin and all he wants to talk about is politics. He can't help but drive to town every day for the newspaper. I ask him why? "Do you enjoy being miserable? I came here to get away from all that."

I've started to avoid certain shooting forums because just reading thread titles as I scroll past them upsets me, I don't even have to open them. So I've been sticking to forums that don't allow politics or strictly regulate it.

I'm seriously thinking about taking a break from the internet. I know it would improve my life in many ways. Frown

No question about it, or at least they find some perverse satisfaction in being angry. And because one minute of anger is 60 seconds of unhappiness, seeking anger is deliberate striving after unhappiness.

Best to you because I understand completely even if I manage to not let it bother me quite as much.
