Thank you for posting this.
I have been considering the exact course you have taken.

Your post pretty much sums up my feelings, too, parabellum. I did this morning the same thing that I did twelve years ago, I got up, had breakfast, washed up and brushed my teeth. The same thing I have done pretty much every day. On a positive personal note I received notification of the results from my yearly echocardiogram, they told me that everything looks good, that all is normal. So, there’s that, anyway.

I feel the same way.
Donald Trump allowed me to be consumed with politic is a good way ~ he gave us hope.
Now that the corruption of the media, social media cartel and the swamp has all colluded to bring it to a crescendo.
I have no interest to participate.
I have not watched Fox News since the election was stolen.
It is hard to ween off but we must move ahead.
The only real thing I fear is the loss of the second amendment as we know it.
Everything else just makes me angry but the loss of our gun rights makes me fearful.
I hope I am wrong and or God intervenes.
God Bless America and what we accomplished with PDJT.
I want less and less of politics ~ if it can't be a fair fight then why bother. Frown

Political discussion can continue. There should be no confusion about that. Such discussions are an integral part of this forum. I'm simply telling you guys to start new threads on the subject sparingly and when you look to me for help moderating such a thread, you can expect comments and actions from me which will be regarded as less than subtle.

Regarding the frenzy which will surely surround the Dems efforts to destroy the Second Amendment, well, I'll just say that members had better keep a lid on it.

People have been acting like I’m crazy because I say our voices no longer matter. They think I’m being partisan because “your guy lost.” They don’t get it. The Swamp just proved that they’ll do as they please whether you like it or not. The R and D scum will continue to enrich themselves at our expense and acting like either party has any interest in fixing the system is naive. I’m done as well. I’ve cut about 90% of all forms of media out of my life and I’m already in a better state of mind for it. I plan to do what I can to take care of me and mine, the rest of the world can burn.

Agreed and thanks. I've throttled back a bit, but as a political animal and anti-bolshevik since birth, I'll 'monitor' the propaganda channels, a little bit.

The one positive thing from all this for me at least, is discovering a few u-tube channels with young folks (30-ichers) who have seen the light.

So there is hope within my icy heart.

Farewell Para, you're still in recovery mode.

Sunspots are on the uptick so more radio time for me, and as I will probably remain unemployed (or in forced very early retirement) more range time is in the sight picture too.

Amateur Radio - the original social media; no internet required.

Yep, I'm right there with you Para. It's finally become apparent how deep and widespread the swamp is, on both sides of the aisle. I've had it with them all and haven't watched a single news show in weeks, other than watching Trump's farewell speech on the FOX Business Channel this morning. Haven't watched a single pro sports game this season either, and won't until they all stand, with their hand over their heart, during the national anthem.

Wow, Para, you managed to articulate my thoughts precisely. I have expressed similar sentiments in a couple of the long-running threads here, but I've soft-pedaled it to a degree.

This morning I informed my wife: "I will not see the 'news' on TV anymore. If you still want to watch the evening 'news', have at it. I'll be leaving the room. I don't want to see it. Not even for the weather. I can get that on my phone and tablet."

I haven't cancelled my voter registration--yet. But I'm damn >< close. I, like you, believe the entire system to be so badly corrupted I've little to no faith legitimacy can be restored.

Thanks Para. I'm right there with you on the frustration with both sides' manic perpetually outraged behavior in real life and on the intrawebs.

If I were a younger man by a decade or more, I might be willing to continue to be involved, but, life is too short to struggle with the insane. Regarding my participation in political discussion- both in this forum and outside of it- this is a permanent state of affairs.
Here is what I've been thinking for myself and others who are 10 years or more younger. Let's keep our "powder dry" for the Biden administration's first 100 days.
  • By "powder dry", I mean don't post latest outrage on forums or social media and merely just observe.
  • Our focus as conservatives and/or libertarians now is the 2022 midterm election and taking away one if not both the House and Senate from the Demonrats.
  • Biden and liberals are incompetent and rather than wear people out let's give his administration a chance to prove they can't govern for shit.
  • Biden and the liberals are corrupt and rather than barking at every squirrel let's act more like a trained guard dog and not bark until we have something meaty we can bite into (i.e. point out to 2022 voters).
  • If he's anything like 0bama, he'll use the media to be his magician's assistant and distract everyone while he's doing the really shady shit. Let's not fall for it and be ready to pounce on the shady shit.
  • This is all in spirit with Napolean's "Never Interfere With an Enemy While He’s in the Process of Destroying Himself"

Para, would the above be tolerable for you on Sigforum?

The mantle has to be passed off at every point. It has always been that way. Here is no different.

For this great nation to continue on there has to be those to take it up and continue the fight. No matter how uphill it might seem.

There have been points in our history where the obstacle must of seemed overwhelming to those staring it in the face. But they did not give in and we prevailed.

While for some, the fight cannot continue. But for other's it has just begun. We owe to those who brought us this far and to our children to never give in.

So as a nation, we must carry on and we will.

God Bless our President and our Nation.

Its too deep for me to understand. I don't watch or when I do, believe the media. I realize the corruption includes biased media. But then I also have a need for some local information. And of course that will be so slanted we rarely get the real story.

It takes me back to my "awakening" when I realized that any story I had personal knowledge was so misrepresented that it was hard to figure out where they got the BS they presented it. Just didn't happen that way, yet the masses swallow it up. Then they repeat it as the truth because you heard it on TV "so it must be true".

When I started reading this thread, I was fearful we'd lose the last ray of hope for honesty.

With the exception of the "Mutiny" thread ( which is quite political) I have tried to avoid the political postings and plan to in the future. Everyone else mostly echoes my sentiments in the political posts, anyway.

I'm with you a hundred percent. Since Trump became a candidate I've been way too involved in this crap. The only thing I've played in my truck was some type of news radio. Back to some good music for me, I'm finished with the BS news.

Thanks Para. Tracing my personal interest in politics back to the early 50s, events have proceeded either without or in spite of, being influenced by my point of view. It has soaked up entirely too much precious time, with no discernible improvement.
