I'm not sure what you're seeing. Go to about the 5:20 mark of the video and you can see that MS is still in his lane until the 5th strike from War of Will (in MS's groin). You can see after that 5th strike MS's head starts to turn and he jumps out of his lane. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

What I saw was: at 2:18 and 2:24 MS is close to the rail, maybe there is a slight amount of room between he and the rail At 2:40 MS is still close to the rail, just inside of the tire track closest to the rail and is in the lead by just over a length at 3:11 the lead is reduced to less than a length, the other horses are clearly closing the gap to MS at 3:12, MS is on or outside of the tire track ahead of hte other horses by less than a length at 3:15, MS has moved outside and is on top of the second tire track at 3:20, MS is well away from the rail, a little further back horses #13 and #5 are still close to the rail. MS crosses two tire tracks (from the machines) somewhere in this timeframe at 6:04, MS moves left back to the rail
