This threat is real. But it's not time to give up, not by a long shot. There are conservative Hispanics out there, especially in this state. Not nearly as many of the free-sh*t variety as some assume.

The reality is TX has always had a large Hispanic population, even before it became a state and was owned by two other countries. The issue at hand is what is the GOP doing to attract their votes Unfortunately the last 20-years we've seen this overbearing narrative that all Hispanics are sympathetic to all leftist causes thus, if you're a Spanish speaker you must be a Democrat. Most Hispanics 'identify' as being religious, family being core, a free entrepreneurial spirit, the right to self-defense and limitations to abortion...sounds like somebody who's moderate at the very least, if not leaning right. The GOP lost CA because they failed to appeal to immigrant small business owners, plenty of 2nd & 3rd generation immigrants either switched-sides (thanks to their kids) or, they started voting.

LBJ did more to destroy this country than any other person. The 1965 immigration act, compounded by the "great society" welfare programs, set all of this in motion.

Donald Trump is seen by many as the only one who could change course.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Texas Republicans have to learn how to fight dirty. And I mean down in the dirt, get the mud all over you dirty. The best thing they can do is keep riding this wave of Left-tard lunacy and just hammer home that THIS is what the Democrats want for the great Lone Star State. I have no hope for parts of Houston...too much Sheila Jackson Butthole and Al Green.

We’re red but our repubs are turning it blue by their actions. No need to elect Dems to turn it blue when repubs can do it from within.

Repubs need to get out and vote. I hear of and I now so many that don’t vote. Younger recent grads especially. Don’t know why. They will learn.

Republicans will have to make inroads with and learn how to effectively message Hispanic Texans in a broad scale. Republicans must stop ceding that population group to the jackasses.

I don't get this statement. H1B is guest worker visa for highly skilled labor. It does not allow the guest to vote, nor it is related to the naturalization process.

H1B Visas are or were written into law for skilled labor we don’t have in the USA. Instead it’s being used to displace American workers paying Indians a little less. It’s bullshit and anyone who supports it I will vote against.

State definitely going blue. Too many fucking Kalifornians have moved here and want it to be Kali 2.0. I always loved it here but now I want to leave and starting to look outside the state. It’s that bad. Costco feels like I’m the immigrant. Indians and Burkas everywhere, I’m sick of it. Kalifornians, Indians and Muslims. A fucking nightmare.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I’ll go one further. Republicans need to get out and work come election time. Nothing wrong with helping out your local Republican Party office.

I live in the 6th. Handel ran a terrible campaign, expecting to coast after Ossof got his hat handed to him before (and $30M later). Democrats had a motivated and large ground game and earned the win. It could be flipped back, I think, but I’m not sure by Handel. Some new blood could do it, with a good campaign manager.

Born and raised here, we can also partially blame Rick Perry for incentivizing so many companies to move here from Commiefornia. The larger problem I see is the lack of representation for the middle. A large portion of the population doesn't agree fully with either side. The two party system is outdated, but I don't think it will change anytime soon.

Many forget that Texas was blue for a LONG time. We had Dhim governors and senators for ages. LBJ was from Texas. And the state had Dhim governors until Ma Richards decided to veto the first concealed carry bill.

And many Texas state legislators aren't as conservative as you would think. My rep is one of the Bonnen brothers. They're both Strauss cronies. And Strauss was about as 'conservative' as Bill Clinton.
