Why does this never get any easier? It's all I can do to type this Frown

Please allow me to introduce to you my buddy, Bentley:

He began exhibiting signs of increasing distress about the time I returned from a short trip, up north, Saturday afternoon. Naturally, it was all-but-impossible to find someplace that could see him quickly. Finally, we found a place that had some room about midnight, last night.

They took him out back to begin diagnostics. The vet returned, telling us they were going to have to sedate him to take x-rays to find out for sure what was going on. He returned shortly to tell us Bentley had "coded" as he was being prepped. They tried for ten minutes to bring him back, in vain.

Heart failure. We surmise the stress of all that pushed him over the edge.

This guy... this guy was just so freakin' cool. He'd greet me when I got up in the morning and hang with me while I did my morning thing. I'd talk to him and he'd look at me and "talk" right back. He'd more often than not come greet me at the door when I came home. If I left clothes on the bed: He'd be nappin' on 'em.

The way he'd look at me, sometimes, was with so much love and devotion words there are no words. Now he's gone and we are heart-broken. He had so much sheer presence the house now feels empty.

Some photos from much happier times Smile

Exploring, the very first day we brought him home from the rescue:

(We never could understand what would have motivated somebody to abandon such a sweet, personable cat.)

Kicking-back as only cats can:

Sure, I'll share my water with you

Napping with his big buddy:

For anybody in my neck of the woods that should ever find themselve in need of a truly excellent emergency pet care facility, I can strongly recommend MedVet, in Commerce Township. They were truly excellent.

Truly sorry E.. Such a "sweet boy". They are so special. Forever in your heart.

Glad he was well cared for by your vet. That does help.
